doubledown #1 Posted July 19, 2005 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=62054&rd=1 1) The title is clearly misleading, because it's not one of mine. 2) "This is the only system on ebay that has had it's game port and expansion port chemically deoxidized, cleaned and sealed" - Bullshit, every single ColecoVision I've ever sold has had that done, including the one that ended today. 3) "This is the only auction offering video games that have had their contacts cleaned, deoxidized, and sealed." - Again Bullshit, every console that I have ever sold with games has had that done to them. 4) "This is the only system offered on EBay that has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out. You will not find any dust, dirt, hairs, smells, or anything else you can think of with this system. " - Ah hah, the Hat Trick of Bullshit, every console that I have ever sold has had that done to it. If this thing sells for $149.00 with $20.00 shipping, I'm going to be so disappointed. Would anybody here, possibly one of my loyal fans/customers please e-mail this seller (joker) with a link to any one of my many ColecoVision auctions that have all of the same cleaning services offered, plus all of my incredible upgrades so that he can know that he is not the only person selling a "cleaned" system, and that for sure it's not "EBAY'S BEST COLECOVISION SYSTEM AND GAMES COLECO VISION." I'd really appreciate it. Here's a link of my auction that ended today to send to him. Thanks in advance to everyone who wants to play along. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMESO%3AIT&rd=1 and here's another one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8187389000
txsizzler #2 Posted July 19, 2005 Well, you know how it goes... some sellers think they are the shiz-nit, and will diss every other auction going, even if they are lying, to sell their products for many times the normal amount that they should go for. Your modded CV system that sold earlier was one I was foaming from the mouth about... this system that is being advertised doesn't really have anything special to it. Besides, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to do their own cleaning on systems they buy. So, I will stick with my cheapo stuff, and clean it on my own
doubledown #3 Posted July 19, 2005 It just pisses me off that I've sold 14 ColecoVisions on Ebay alone all with the same "cleaning" features, but he's the only one who does it.
mumbai #4 Posted July 19, 2005 You're overreacting. Unless you're going to also crusade against every seller who declares R1's as "ultra mega fuggedaboutit rare" just chalk this up to an extreme hard sell that has crossed over into the seller's own little world. And I'm not sure why'd you'd be upset should this particular auction runs to $150 ... you hooked the ever-impatient jaygee112 for $300 tonight, which should be more than enough to keep you mollified. elliott #5 Posted July 19, 2005 A protectorant was then applied to the system, controllers and games. The protectorant helps to restore the plastics original luster along with protecting the plastic against UV damage. So in other words Armor All
doubledown #6 Posted July 19, 2005 My guess would be Armor-All too. I've never used that crap. I have a special plastics cleaner that restores the shine after it is washed off with plain water. All Armor-All does is attract dust, and make the console look greasy.
yuppicide #7 Posted July 19, 2005 Yep. I think you are overreacting too. You can just say something and move on. Nothing gonna stop him from saying all that.
jetset #8 Posted July 19, 2005 Meh. Next auction you have you should mention that there is someone else on ebay offering a similar service claiming to be the only one. You should also mention that you dont screw people on shipping and can be trusted. Cant say as much for this assclown.

yuppicide #11 Posted July 20, 2005 Here's the guy's reply to me: "There are several way to deoxidize the exposed metal contacts. Most people will sand off the oxidation which hastens the destruction of the metal parts. I chemically neutralize the oxidation without harming the underlying metal. To prevent further oxidation the parts are then sealed and the sealer cured to the metal via a special low heat oven. While I have modified my own personal Coleco similiar to your friends, alot of collectors want their systems true to the original. So that is why I am offering the system the way it is. I realize you are a newbie to Ebay so I hope some of this helps you."

doubledown #14 Posted July 20, 2005 Yeah, I don't understand the "calling you a newbie" part. Anybody here with a "non-newbie" Ebay feedback rating want to ask this guy the same question to see if his response varies. He sounds like a real jack-knife to me.
yuppicide #15 Posted July 20, 2005 I replied to him saying just because someone's feedback is only 1 and they just signed up doesn't mean they're a noob. For all he knows my wife could have had an account the family shares for years. Anyway he replies: "Young man, I have been a technician for over 25 years. Nothing in my ad is a lie. I am the only one at present that I know of that not only deoxidizes the metalic parts but also polymer seals it to prevent it from future oxidation. If you had any ability at reading and comprehension, you would understand that. It is alot of work and very few people know how to do it. Before you go accusing someone of lying, you need to find out what you are talking about. You ought to be ashamed of yourself, the way you have acted. I have been selling vintage systems and games for quite awhile. I don't need nonsense from silly people who don't have a clue. Now go grow up and do not bother me again." Osbo #16 Posted July 20, 2005 (edited) what an ass! next coleco... put all that crap too, so he can see he's not "the only one" Edited July 20, 2005 by Osbo
doubledown #17 Posted July 21, 2005 (edited) All right, some do a google search for me and try to find this magical "polymer seal" or whatever the hell he calls it so that I can start using it on my systems. I briefly looked earlier, but couldn't find anything. And feel free to tell him that I "de-oxidize (chemically)" every contact on every system and game that I sell, and that I "condition" every one of them too! Edited July 21, 2005 by doubledown
Osbo #18 Posted July 21, 2005 (edited) now... if u 'seal' the contacts, how the hell are u going to make contact from... a cart? unless the 'seal' have conductive properties... can't think of anything... oil? well... I was right without even reading the description "highly conductive polymer sealer" lol... someone bid on it... Edited July 21, 2005 by Osbo
jetset #19 Posted July 21, 2005 If anyone knows of some Colecovision sites, they should point them to this thread, and this guys auction. He's definetly an assclown people need to know to avoid.

doubledown #21 Posted July 21, 2005 (edited) Like I said, I don't know what the hell his magic sealer is, but I use Caig Laboratories ProGold on all electrical contacts as a conditioner, to help promote connectivity, and to deter future de-oxidization. And let's not forget, he's been a "technician" for what, 25 years was it. He's obiviously a trained professional and we puiny pod people couldn't possibly understand what the hell he's doing. I guess one of the things that I hate about his auction so much is that he has like 4-5 paragraphs describing his "technical stuff" that starts off as "TECHNICAL STUFF ( Read only if you are interested)": He might as well say you're clearly too stupid to understand this, please disregard the next 5 paragraphs, idiot. And now I can't believe that it actually got it's starting bid at $125.99. Not to mention his shipping price is way out of line. I charge $14.95 for shipping on all of my ColecoVision's and with the extra hardware mine have the unit is heavier than his, and it's never actually cost me that much to ship it out. If the shipping overage is more than $2.00 over what it actually costs me, I always send a partial refund to the buyer for the difference. I figure anything less than $2.00 isn't worth it. I really hate this guy more and more. I think somebody should ask the seller what he did to re-condition the "Consumers Notice" sticker on the top of the console. Whatever he did it looks pretty shitty. Prehaps he should have "Gold Polymer Sealed" it. Edited July 21, 2005 by doubledown
guitarmas #22 Posted July 21, 2005 Thank you for this forum. I will recompilate myself to the knowledge that I am NOT the only one who gets offended for something stated that is not directed toward them or even meant to be read by them. Thanks man, you just made it a bit lighter. Again, I thank you.
