Nintendo Penguin

A happy ending for me...

Recommended Posts

Many of us want to have a some rare and hard to obtain classic gaming item. Maybe it is Stadium Events for the NES or the Ultra Rare Nintendo Championship cart? Maybe it is some obscure Coleco thing ...or whatever? I think you get the picture.

The forementioned NES items were my "Holy Grail" back when I was collecting. I never aquired them, and they eventually faded from my memory. I recently found something even better... I true one of a kind NES item that I thought had been lost forever...

I found my original NES system! It had been missing in action for years. No where to be found. I had assumed it had been thrown out at some point in the last 15 years. I moved recently after having lived in the same house for 25 years. It is amazing what we found... all of it was crap of course, but it was our crap... thus it was special. In the far recesses of my garage, in a dirty box, with tons of other stuff piled on it, in the obsolute last place I would think anyone including myself would store old computer stuff, was my NES! Complete with a couple of my original games... and as a bonus my SNES! I thought they had been tossed out years ago.

While of course I already had another NES and SNES there is just something special about my first one. I had often wondered what happened to them and why on earth I couldnt remeber getting rid of them. Sometimes I would actually felt kinda bad about not still having it... like somehow I had betrayed that wonderful little machine that gave me thousands of hours of enjoyment. It was like being reaquainted with an old friend from elementry school.

Well, that is just my little story that I wanted to share with you all. Maybe I am nuts... maybe all NES' are the same. I dunno... and I dont care... I am just happy to have my old friend back!

Kinda gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside hearing your story lol. I hope one day my Colecovision decides to wander home. I sure miss it.

Congratulations! I just had a similar situation - my cousin moved into my childhood home and mentioned that he found my old Atari 2600, then my uncle said "I just found an atari too" and it's my 7800 that I had lent my grandmother before she died.

Next trip home, I'm picking up both!

Congrats! My original NES from when I was 10 holds a special place in my collection too. In fact, even though they are a dime a dozen, I personally value My original toaster NES above all of the "OMG rare" games in my collection.
