mos6507 #1 Posted July 21, 2005 I've been thinking about putting a hardware 8-bit BBS back online via telnet. If I route through an APE cable, does anyone know whether this could result in dropped bytes because of the high speed? This is a problem with the 850 interface and I don't know what kind of datarate to expect through an APE cable. Does it implement any sort of hardware flow control? Also, I am thinking about hooking up a compact flash card to the 8-bit for storage instead of doing disk I/O through the APE cable also, that way it will minimize any pausing when loading modules. I could do this via the MYIDE cart, a compact flash card, and an IDE->Compact Flash adapter, or add an IDE->SCSI adapter and try using my Black Box. Anyone have any anecdotes trying to interface flash storage with the Black Box?
+doctorclu #2 Posted July 25, 2005 Hey congrats on setting up a Atari Telnet BBS. I would have to say to get the best advice, check with the Boot Factory, ask there... bfbbs.no-ip.com Or check the other BBS's that you can find on the Boot Factory logoff screen. Look forward to seeing you there! Doc Clu
danwinslow #3 Posted July 25, 2005 I used an internal MyIDE to put a 512MB compact flash (on a Flash/IDE adapter) into my 1200xl and it worked like a charm. Its great.
