Mindfield #2 Posted July 25, 2005 $30 for shipping, $15 for packaging, and it's not up for discussion ... nor is the complete lack of bidders, 'cos that, my friend, is the free market speaking -- and it's not interested in discussion either.
Chickybaby #3 Posted July 25, 2005 And, by looking at his feedback score people are foolish enough to buy stuff - local pick up for 10$ what a bargain.
yuppicide #4 Posted July 25, 2005 (edited) I can understand the $15 for packaging and MAYBE even the $30 for shipping. I sometimes use the UPS Store and they're expensive as hell. One time I went in and a specifically told the guy I don't have a lot of money. I'll package the box myself and use newspaper. I just wanna buy the box off him and ship. He's like "You are one of my longtime customers we'll take care of you" --- came to like $30 anyway and he's like "and I didn't charge you for the tape". Mindfield #5 Posted July 25, 2005 That's why I never, ever buy packing supplies from carriers. They're absurdly overpriced. If I have to buy, then I go where it's cheap: Bubble wrap: $1 per 12ft package at Dollarama. (Small pockets) Bubble envelopes: 3/$1 for small, 2/$1 for medium at Everything for a Dollar Store. Boxes: Free at your local supermarket or recycle from recieved packages. Some Dollarama stores carry banker's boxes for a buck each though -- but they're a bit big for most things. Tape: $1/roll at any dollar store. (I buy both clear and brown packing tape -- the brown for covering over labels on recycled boxes) Tape gun: $1, Dollarama. It's cheap-ass, but it works. Box cutters: 2/$1 for small (with two replacement blades per knife even) or $1 for large at Dollarama. The large ones suck, but the small ones are excellent. Replacement blades: 10/$1, also at Dollarama. If you're a smoker or have pets, you can also add a little potpourri to your packages to freshen them up. $1/bag at Dollarama, good for half a dozen boxes. Tissues with potpourri oil also work but I don't like using anything that uses oil as a base. Cart baggies: $1/100 at Dollarama. (They're actually ziploc-style craft bags but they fit single carts perfectly for a penny per) They also sell smaller quantities of larger sized baggies for whatever you'd want to use them for. There you go. At the absolute most you couldn't be spending more than $2 per package, and that's going all out with bells on.

Mindfield #9 Posted July 26, 2005 Are you sure that you are not some marketing agent for this Dollarama?? You sure seem to be giving them some nice plugs... 898474 That's absurd. Why would I? Don't be rediculous. *ahem* Anyway, no... just that the Dollarama near me actually happens to carry some useful shipping supplies -- and given how much shipping I do sometimes it's a bloody relief on my wallet -- especially when you consider how much us Canucks have to pay to ship stuff in the first place. Road_runner #10 Posted July 26, 2005 mailboxes etc. 2 bucks for packing? materials included (bubblewrap, tape, box, etc)? u can't beat that... 898364 I'll stick to packing myself. I just don't trust how other people pack. I want my customers to receive their precious items in one piece. It's time consuming for sure, but I love receiving e mails with compliments on their purchase and how it was "profesionally" packed. I recently had one problem with the USPS and a customer who's box arrived smashed. That one was taken care of and a claim opened for my refund. But back to this guy's shipping cost, he must be on drugs. Nice lot though.

Well, if you didn't live in Canada, you wouldn't have that problem would you. Actually the dollar store by us carries a ton of cool stuff as well. Comes in quite handy. But I would be careful about the dates on the food stuff at least around here. *wince*

But I would be careful about the dates on the food stuff at least around here. *wince* 898915 I don't usually buy foodstuffs from them -- at most usually just spices or dry-packaged stuff. I'm very leery about buying canned stuff from dollar stores. At best I'm afraid it'll taste like aluminum, and at worst, it'll have formed its own colony.
