Why does my screen flicker?

Sorry for the repost, Im just hoping more people will read my thread if I post it here...

 

I tried to do the simple composite video mod on my 2600 jr. (small rainbow) version. This is the one where you tap the point under the RF modulator and you jumper the luma and chroma. What I get is a flickering screen.

 

It seems something is loose and as the wires move, the speed at which the flicker occurs changes. Occasionally it stops for a few seconds. I checked all connections and everything seems to be solid. The only thing I can think of is the wire I used, which was a hard telephone type wire.... could this be the problem?
