durden26 #1 Posted August 2, 2005 I'm a recent addition to the atari community. However, I'm quite impressed by the continuation of Home-brews. What are the best games that recent publishers have produced?
supercat #2 Posted August 2, 2005 What are the best games that recent publishers have produced? 902769 THRUS+, worth every penny. My only complaint is that it's not available in the nifty clear cartridge case.

jussts #4 Posted August 2, 2005 (edited) Go Fish! and Gunfight are also very good. I was wondering... are you only interested in games that have been sold on cartridges, or just any homebrew? Because there are plenty that haven't been. Edited August 2, 2005 by jussts
durden26 #5 Posted August 2, 2005 I'd prefer carts because the developer would be able to be rewarded for his efforts. I'm not interested in ROM's because I feel the author is entitled to a profit if they believe that their product is worthy of financial compensation. +Nathan Strum #6 Posted August 2, 2005 (edited) Star Fire. Can't go wrong with that one. Fall Down is a great game, too. Especially two-players. Edited August 2, 2005 by Nathan Strum
Thomas Jentzsch #7 Posted August 2, 2005 I'd prefer carts because the developer would be able to be rewarded for his efforts. Thanks for your support. I'm not interested in ROM's because I feel the author is entitled to a profit if they believe that their product is worthy of financial compensation. But you know, you can playtest almost all homebrews before buying them this way.
Thomas Jentzsch #8 Posted August 2, 2005 THRUS+, worth every penny. My only complaint is that it's not available in the nifty clear cartridge case. Thanks. The "CCC" exists, because I am bound to my promise, that Thrust+ Platinum is the final release of that game.
vdub_bobby #9 Posted August 2, 2005 Go Fish! and Gunfight are also very good. Thanks. I'll put in votes for Thrust+, Qb, and Seawolf. And I also really enjoy the puzzle homebrews. Jammed, especially.
+kisrael #10 Posted August 2, 2005 At the risk of being a shill for my ownstuff... I'd say FlapPing is at least worth a download looksy...especially if you have a friend to play it against, but even the one player modes can be fun.
Jess Ragan #11 Posted August 2, 2005 Fall Down and Seawolf are both great games, rich with color and addictive gameplay. JR
djmips #12 Posted August 3, 2005 Thrust and Jammed are the two that stand out and I so I purchased them. Hunchy II is quite a treat and I would get that if it was on a cart. I also like 'Go Fish' and 'Gunfight' For some reason, I've never tried Marble Craze but that one has always had my eye...
killersquirel #13 Posted August 3, 2005 Get marble craze. It will not only get your eye, but it will take all of your free time also. -mike
+Omegamatrix #14 Posted August 3, 2005 I have to say Gunfight. I own both Gunfight and Marble Craze and they are both quality titles. Love those games! All the homebrewers out there please keep up the fine work. This is one person who appreciates your hard efforts. Thank you!
bjk7382 #16 Posted August 5, 2005 IMHO Thrust and Marble Craze are the best, most in depth 2600 homebrews. BTW isn't it time for another "beat thrust contest"?
pmpddytim #17 Posted August 7, 2005 BTW isn't it time for another "beat thrust contest"? 904848 I'm working on Thrust. I'm getting pretty close but there a a few tricky spots I've got to figure out. You can't go wrong with any Xype game in my opinion. -Tim

Lord Helmet #20 Posted August 8, 2005 You can't go wrong with any Xype game in my opinion. -Tim 905943 I agree. All of the Xype games I have are top notch.
mos6507 #21 Posted August 10, 2005 Oystron is still my favorite. It isn't as flashy as some of the more recent homebrews, but I enjoy its gameplay the best.
