Atari Master #1 Posted August 2, 2005 (edited) Today, I decided since I'm getting back into collecting, I'd take a look at my local Goodwill. I looked around and saw some old messed up NES games, and a bunch of Genesis controllers. I was going to purchase some genesis controllers and a N64 controller when I saw a SNES box under a bunch of other PC games... What did it read? "Earthbound" I was like, "omg!" and I asked the lady to get it out of the case. For being Goodwill, they were asking a hefty price for it... $24.99... But it has the box, but no instructions or magazine, but I figured since the game alone is usually pretty expensive, I'd get it. It's in almost new condition, a little loose though, but working well overall... I could probably hope to tighten it up, which is probably the reason I have difficulty starting it up sometimes... That or my SNES hates me. But overall, I thought it was a pretty good deal. Whats funny is it has a Babbages price tag of like $79.99... Atari Master #2 Posted August 2, 2005 Sorry to bump, but does anyone know how to get those annoying price tags Goodwill puts off of the box without tearing it? Sometimes I hate Goodwill.
ApolloBoy #3 Posted August 2, 2005 That reminds me of how I got Golden Axe Warrior for my SMS for only $4 (complete, BTW).
oldgames #4 Posted August 3, 2005 Not sure what kind of price tag they use, but you might try the hair dryer trick. Heat up the label with a hair dryer to soften the glue and then VERRRRRRY carefully work the label off. Hit it with the dryer again if it isn't coming off easily. If it still doesn't come easily.... Maybe someone else has an idea. I've had good luck with this on almost all price tags. Rental stickers..... Now that's a different story. I just leave them on and hope to find another copy. Once the label is off, use goo-gone to remove the residue.
Atari Master #5 Posted August 3, 2005 Googone wont damage the box?
Lord Thag #6 Posted August 3, 2005 I've occasionally used a sharp razor to *gently* pry the sticker off of a box. Nice find, BTW!
A.J. Franzman #7 Posted August 4, 2005 (edited) Googone wont damage the box? 903912[/snapback] Goo Gone is very safe on most professionally printed items, especially the ones with a glossy finish. A notable exception is 20th Century Fox cartridge labels. I'm sure other people can list some other exceptions. The 20th C.F. cart labels are uncoated, so Goo Gone and elbow grease will fade the ink after a little while. You could still use it; if you're lucky a sticker and its residue will come off without much effort and leave the ink undamaged. If the sticker is tough or you're trying to remove marker ink, you'll have to decide if it's better to leave it alone, or to remove it and risk making a faded spot. Edited August 4, 2005 by A.J.
