Well I beat Demon Attack

Pretty strange... You should be able to get about 700K. What game variation were you playing and was it on diff B?

I don't know that there is any difference at all. I was just trying to figure out a reason that it would end at 40,000. I'm puzzled at the moment. Perhaps some of the experts could speculate a bit.

40K is not a ending score. maybe you just died?? (no offense)

I have been able to get over 300,000 and the world record is over 700,000 (see link at the bottom), so that was definately not the end of the game. Perhaps you have a defective cartridge. I once had a copy of Demon Attack where the game would just lock up at a certain point. I purchased another copy of the game and did not have the problem any more. Try cleaning the cart and see if the problem goes away and you can score higher.

Thanks for the info Troy. I did know that A and B setting made a difference in difficulty. I was wondering if the difficulty level made a difference in the wave number where the game freezes. I know it is eventually supposed to freeze because I sent a letter to Imagic in the 80's and they sent a reply and a Demon Attack wall poster as a reward. I've never played to the freeze on diff A, so that's why I asked initially.

On the earlier released carts, there is a glitch where after the 84th wave is completed, the screen goes black and the game ends. Imagic put a card in with the game's manual that says: "Be a Demon Attack Expert" explaining the glitch as beating the game and that the demons simply "...give up"

 

Imagic later fixed this glitch, so there are carts out there that will not freeze after the 84th wave. You should get this version to try to set a world record

That's exactly right. The letter I got from Imagic said I had made the demons "give up". I was so proud!

No because like I said the score went from 40,000 to 30,000. How would dieing have any effect.
