sega cd..

Recommended Posts

My sega cd is not working right. I know that there is all sorts of topics on this, but most are for the front loading kind, i have the top loading kind. It powers up and sayd sega cd and then just goes to the no game screen and does not even spin the disk. I already looked to see if i needed a new belt, but it does not seem to have a belt....any ideas?

Thanks!

Jon, i think it is missing the belt or the belt is broken. also the laser is probobly broken, otherwise it would at lest detect a game, just freeze.

You might try to use a qtip or canned air and very gently clean the lazer lens. It just may be dusty or a little dirty. But try this at your own risk. Otherwise sounds like the laser assy may be worn out. Good luck.

SegaCD2s don't HAVE belts.

And no, it WON'T detect a game if it can't spin the disk.

Don't offer advice unless you ACTUALLY know something about the subject.

Sadly, no.

My SCD2 has been a perfect angel for its entire life.

If I had to guess, I'd say make sure the wires to the spindle motor are connected at both ends. Possible there's a bad solder joint, or a loose ribbon cable.

Make sure the part where the lid closes is making contact (so it can recognize the fact that you've actually closed the CD lid / door) that's my only idea / suggestion.

Good luck..
