Fairchild System 2 controls

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My System 2 decided tonight to stop going "up". We were playing the bowling game, and it got sketchy. When we had played about 10 minutes, the serving was erratic, and when we tried the pong variants, you could only go down, left and right.

Both controllers are doing the same thing, so I am guessing its internal on the system. I have not looked for a schematic, just wondering if anyone of you have ever seen this before. Maybe a cold solder, seeing how it worked to start the evening just fine and went bad. Otherwise, its down to the chip level, and I hope I can get it going. I bought the system on a trip to "the holy land of Sunnyvale" in '02, and it means a great deal to me to have found it in the wild. Really like to keep her healthy.

Thanks for any advice,

Cassidy

Usually the wires break right where they exit the hand controller, but it seems unlikely that all those wires would break at about the same time, perhaps the ground wire has been damaged... I'd check the wiring first anyway.
