RRAD500 #1 Posted August 12, 2005 Hey everyone, i just bought my first atari 2600, primarily because i LOVED paul slocum's synthcart when i tried it on my computer. My atari powers on alright and plays sound fine, but the colors often "bleed," and the colors are off; green comes up as a weird blue/purple. for example, the backgrounds to 'combat,' 'stampede' and 'street racer' are this color. is this a problem with my atari? ive tried cleaning the connectors, playing with rthe channels on the tv and the atari. ive tried it on a few different tvs and this problem is there every time. has this happened to anyone else? any ideas? keilbaca #2 Posted August 12, 2005 Inside the atari is a pot that you adjust with a screwdriver. Its easy to spot, depending on the version. What atari do you have? 4 switch or 6 switch?
RRAD500 #3 Posted August 12, 2005 i have a "light sixer" atari. i opened up the atari last night expecting to find something like that, but couldnt find it
D.Yancey #4 Posted August 12, 2005 My Jr. changes colors like that if you press down on it's top with your finger. I do not know why.
RRAD500 #5 Posted August 12, 2005 yeah its strange the coloration is right, but theres a "tie dye" effect on everything: like theres no solid colors, purple will fade to blue and then back to purple. but i suspect this is because my game switch sucks. im gonna try the coaxial -> rf direct converter. eventually ill do the composite video
FireTiger #6 Posted August 17, 2005 Is it you tv? we had a lightning hit here an one of our tvs did that, needded to be degaused.. (spelling?)

The reason why I said the adapter is because I did a mod for chickybaby, and I couldn't have all 3 LED's, the power LED and both difficulty switch LED's because when all 3 were on, the colors changed, sometimes wavy with noise interference, and sometimes just a color change. It was fine with 2, so I took out the power LED.
Kroko #8 Posted August 17, 2005 i have a "light sixer" atari. i opened up the atari last night expecting to find something like that, but couldnt find it 910086[/snapback] The Pot is inside the metal housing in the center. This metal housing has 3 holes in it. Under the leftmost hole, you will find the pot and you can correct the color with a screwdriver. It is not the top and not the bottom hole, it is middle left. All my light sixers have this hole, but they are all PAL. Maybe NTSC is different ?! Armin
