Taito Games on the 2600...

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I'm trying to compile a list of non-homebrewn Taito games which are available for the VCS.

So far I can only think of these:

Space Invaders

Jungle Hunt

Polaris

And I'm uncertain about these:

Phoenix

Loc'n'Chase

(Both are available from Taito, but I'm not sure who *really* created them...)

Greetings,

Manuel

I'd have to say Atari coded phoenix and Coleco coded Loc'n'chase along with Front Line which is also a Taito game isn't it?

Atari coded pacman, so why wouldn't they code their other games they released (excluding the later coleco games they purchased the rights to sell)

Phoenix was manufactured by Centuri, and Lock 'n Chase was originally created by Data East for use with their DECO cassette system and later turned into a dedicated machine and licensed to Taito.

There's also Front Line and Elevator Action (proto) that I know of.

Hi there!

Ah, I see. I thought it might have been created by Taito, because Taito already did another Lupin game, "Lupin III", so I guessed that Lock'n'Chase was simply the sequel.

There's also Front Line.

Oh, I should've remembered that! :)

Greetings,

Manuel

It's probable that Taito approached Data East for the license because of Lupin III. Plus, the DECO system was a clossal flop so Data East were probably more than happy to license a dedicated version of one of its games.
