My Atari Wont Work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Some things to try:

Switch the TV switch to TV and then back to GAME to make sure it's fully switched.

Try channels 2 and 3. Try switching the Channel switch on the bottom/back of your Atari.

If you don't see anything at all when you turn on the Atari (static doesn't jump) and you don't see a spark when you plug the power supply into the Atari, power supply may be bad. Check it with a voltmeter.

If it's a 4 or 6 switch, open it up and make sure the RF cable is still plugged into the board.

Swap out parts on your other Ataris until you find what's wrong.

Maybe you should invest in a new Atari. They can easily be had for only $15 on ebay and it would cost you less in terms of time and possibly money.

I don't think we'll run out of 2600's anytime soon. Now 7800's, that's a different story. They didn't get a whole lot of distribution.

I have some fully working Atari 5200 controllers. I can sell you one if you really need one.

I had the same problem. So without hesitation I figured that the RF switch was the first place to look because Its the easiest to replace. So I opend it up and sure enough a contact had broken, so I soldered it back to where it looked like it went and voila! She works......

If its not the RF switch then I dunno, could be any number of things.....Power supplies are not easy to fix, but a new one is cheap enough.
