sio2pc setup.....with a Mac Plus?

Recommended Posts

IMO, the greatest achievement of the A8 computer community in recent years has been the advent of the SIO2PC cable made by AtariMax. The ability to run games and other programs directly off a PC hard drive is wonderful.

I was wondering if a similar cable could be made to compensate my other classic computing hobby, classic Macs. I have a Mac Plus, which was the first (I think?) Mac to come with a SCSI port. Do you think you could run a cable from that port to a PC hard drive in order to emulate a Mac hard drive? I have an old Mac HD, but it's (understandably-considering its age and the relative newness of the concept of a hard drive itself) incredibly flaky.

Any ideas?

You'll need at least a beige G3 (500Mhz minimum) running OS 9.2 and Virtual PC 3.0 (Virtual PC 2.0 doesn't work with 9.2 -maybe 9.1- and is super slow).

You can run APE from Virtual PC and use the serial port of the Beige motherboard to reach your Atari (you'll need a physical adapter as the serial port of the MAC is of a different shape than the PC serial port SIO2PC cables are accustomed to).

AB.

If I understand you right, you would like to attache a "PC Drive" (aka an ordiary IDE Drive) to the SCSI Port of a Mac Plus. Right?

You don't asking for a Atari Diskdrive Emulation (sio2pc Programm) running on a Mac Plus, so that you can load Atari Programms from a Mac Plus. Right?

Ok, if it is the first option, a SCSI2IDE Bridge is what you are looking for

Look at

There should be more solutions out there.
