PhoenixMan #1 Posted August 16, 2005 Hey guys, Is the game Atlantis with the night photo on the label really that hard to find? I have it in the box along with the instruction manual and $10,000 sweepstake book included. Mom and dad bought it for us for Christmas in 1982. It was bought at Lowes, you know now called Lowes Home Improvement. My dad has worked at Lowes since 1970 and still works there.. actually #20 in time served among over 100,000 employees, I have to give him a plug.. sorry if I seemed to be bragging... Yes, Lowes actually sold electronics and ATARI GAMES> Anyway, I had no idea that this game was that hard to find... I saw the rarity guide info on this game, but it made it appear that this game was not sold in stores, but mine was.... It said that it was sent only to high score winners or something like that and that the high scorers would go to Bermuda to compete in a sweepstakes contest. I have no idea how the one dad bought was sold at Lowes, but mine was. Anyway, I also had the Big Atari instore display kiosk that held all of the games and Atari system, but sadly it was destroyed in fire while in storage. Anyway, I will get the Atlantis game with it's box, instructions, and $10,000 sweepstakes book tomorrow and make a photo of it and post it online at this forum tomorrow night...This is just amazing.... I had no idea that this game was that rare on the list.... I know it isn't really worth any great amount of money.... but still..... Anyway, guys, I now have to brag about my little collection. I have nearly 300 games. All of the ones I bought new are still in their boxes. Others just loose. I just wish I still had my ATARI kiosk..... It was destroyed in a fire back in the early 90's.... DANG Anyway, any info about the Atlantis II would be greatly appreciated, be sure to check back and look at my photos tomorrow night.. God Bless you all!! the 5th ghost #2 Posted August 16, 2005 It's Atlantis II if it bears a white sticker on the front of the box saying "Atlantis II" When you get it, plug it in and play it. If you only score 1 point for each ship hit, then you hit the jackpot of rare Atari games. Good luck!
shadow460 #3 Posted August 16, 2005 Sounds like you got the second or third label variation with a flyer for the 10 grand Defend Atlantis contest. Atlantis II would not have been sold at a store like that. Look up the contest rules here on the site to find out how they were distributed.

Lost Monkey #5 Posted August 16, 2005 Keep in mind that many of the common copies of Atlantis have the night scene as well. The night scene alone does not an Atlantis II make. The night scene on the Atlantis II cartridge is identical to the one seen on the common Atlantis cartridge with a night scene. The scene seen on the Atlantis cartridge should be seen and not heard - if such a scene is made over the possible discovery of an Atlantis II (confirmed by the sight of a night scene on a cart on this site) imagine the scene we would see were it the sight of a stickered Atlantis II and not just the sight of a scene of night on a cart like the cart often seen amongst the scenes of this site. I hope its your cart - I do hope it quite - that the cart with the scene of the night seen tonight is the cart with the scene that is stickered so bright with the words Atlantis II on a bed of pure white. Peace be with you.
