I generally believed that Metal Slug 3 is the best of all of them. I've played Metal Slug 4 and it feels like a rehash of the eariler Metal Slugs.

Metal Slug 2. Metal Slug 3 is cool but the difficulty was ramped waay up which made it much less fun for me. Metal Slug games are hard enough as is. Metal Slug X is the worst, just a mish mash of the others with no storyline.

That sounds good. I will try to stay away from Metal Slug X, and definitally get Metal Slug 2.

Metal Slug 5 is really good, but Metal Slug 3 is probably more afordable.

Since Metal Slug 3 has a couple votes i'll most likely go for that as well. I'll eventually have all of them but I want to see where to start.

I loved the NGPC metal slugs but never got to play any off that hanndheld. I was also thinkin about getting the PS2 versions but I want to play them as they were ment to be played not ports.

Thanks for your input!

You all are crazy. Who the hell cares about the storyline in metal slug? Metal Slug X rocks. Metal Slug was NEVER about the storyline. Ugh! Metal Slug X is the title with the most replay value IMHO. There are many hidden paths and specials that it keeps you coming back for more.

You might be able to find MS1 for cheap as I think it's the most common and def. worth getting. I seem to recall MS5 being very brief compared to the others. I still maintain Metal Slug X is not worthy. It's only highly regarded because that's the one most gamers are familiar with because it was released on the Playstation in North America and the other Metal Slugs weren't. Most Metal Slug games have multiple paths, that doesn't make it unique.

MS5 is pretty short (you can finish it in an hour if you're determined) but it's still a heap of fun.

Metal Slug 4 is definately the weakest in the series, but there was no "bad" Metal Slug games in the arcade. 3 seems to be the one everyone agrees on, though X was probably my personal favorite. Whichever one you end up getting, I'm sure you'll be happy with, they're all worth owning. And once you have one, you're going to want to buy the rest of them anyway :)

I've only played the first two,one was the import for the saturn and the other was I think the arcade one, but did rent the Metal Slug 4/5 game for the box and enjoyed it.

Alien Hominid for the cube reminds me somewhat of the Metal Slug games......

No, but the slowdowns in MS2 make IT unique!
