Selling EVERYTHING (but Atari of course)

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of selling off a huge chunk of my collection.

After watching a couple of auctions of people's collections go for a few thousand

dollars, my mind started racing.

This was the one that did it...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I originally started 'seriously' collecting Atari stuff about 7 years ago.

In that time, I have kept pretty much anything video game related.

I am seriously thinking of selling off everything with the exception of my Atari stuff, my Galaga, and my MAME cab.

I guess my question would be, what do you guys think I could get for this?

Almost all systems have their original boxes and NO game is duplicated. All original games. The number of games is off the top of my head but I think I am guessing a little low on most. Every game was cleaned tested and working in the last 2 years, and every system is clean and working.

NES: 200+ games (probably closer to 250) (about 50 with boxes), official NES storage stuff, controllers like the game pad, power glove, etc. all with boxes.

SNES: 100+ games, arcade stick, etc.

N64: 50+ games

Virtual Boy: 4 games

Sega Master System: 30+ games (95% in boxes), 3D glasses w/box

Sega Genesis:150+ games (80%in boxes)

Sega CD: 10 games all in boxes

Sega 32x: a few games w/boxes

Sega Saturn: a few games w/cases

Sega Dreamcast: 20 or so games all in cases

Odyssey 2: 20 games (Quest for the Rings and Wall Street)

Turbo Graphx: 20+ games (all but one in cases)

CD-i: 10 games

Vectrex: 8 games in boxes w/ overlays (I would really like to keep this one, so it may not be included)

Colecovision: 30+ games, driving controller

Intellivision: 30+ games (99% in boxes), Intellivoice

Microvision: 2 games

TI-99/4a: 10+ games, voice synthesizer

Commodore 64: Games on disk, disk drive, tape drive.

I would throw in whatever duplicate Atari stuff I have at the time I sell which right now includes:

Atari 2600: about 30 games

Atari 5200: 10 or so games

Maybe a LaserActive w/ Sega module too, but I may sell this by itself on Ebay. I don't think it would add much to the package as it would by itself. This has about 20 movies with it and Pyramid Patrol game too.

There are lots of rare items mixed in. (Like Slurpy for Coleco and all the RPG's (Mario RPG) for SNES. Harvest Moon and Paper Mario for N64. Bigfoot for TI-994/a, etc. Cool stuff like Seaman with the microphone and the unreleased Half Life for Dreamcast, guide books for DK64, Final Fantasy 3, and I think Secret of Mana. Too much stuff to think of off the top of my head.

I could throw in a ton of 'extras' like my GameCube store light, tons of handhelds (Tandy, Mattel, speak and spell, PacMan Table top)

I could throw in GameBoys with around 30 games too.

My plan would be to get enough money to put a home theater in my basement in place of the video games.

In-Focus projector, Surround Sound, three piece leather home theater seating (w/ cup holders) and hopefully a cool looking popcorn maker. Estimated around $3500 worth of merchandise when all is said and done. (I have a lot of components already)

So I guess my question is, do you think this would pull in $3500 ?

I get to keep my Atari Collection (which is what I intended to collect for in the first place many moons ago) and get my family a great room to

watch movies.

So how about it. Any video game collection appraisers out there?

Of course if anyone here wants to make a serious offer, I would listen.

I have a feeling it'd be easier to actually move your systems, and you'd probably get more money, if you were to sell off your collection by system instead of in bulk. It might be a bit more work, but you'll probably get more out of it as well.

btw, I might be interested in your TG games :)

I made a few bucks whittling down my stuff (it was nowhere near as extensive as your collection, though :-o :)). I'm just collecting Atari 2600/5200/7800/8-bit, Intellivision, and ColecoVision items...

I originally thought that I would make more selling seperately, but it is too much work.

And with what collections have been going for, I actually think I would make more lumping it all together. (In quite a big lump.) :)

It's definitely an instant collection for someone who could afford it. 7 years of collecting in one big shipment.

The sad part (or to us here... the great part) is that the bulk of my collection is atari stuff, which I would nver part with.

I sold off all my non-atari stuff at the start of the summer. I have Sega Genesis, Sega CD, 32x, NES & SNES and I roughly 250 games (all sought after or rare games mind you) and I got about $2500.00 for my stuff.

Cutting the collection down to what really matters (ATARI ONLY) was one of the best things I could have done. You won't be disapointed. I sold all mine seperatly though but I think I got about $300 - $500 more than I would have if I sold it in a lot.

Best Of Luck,

Shawn Sr.

Well, it's official.

It is all up for grabs.

I forgot to list there is also a game gear with case and about 25 games.

I am going to try to sell it as a big lot.

Adios non - Atari video game collection.

I am putting it on Ebay in November (Christmas) with a reserve at $3,500.

If I don't get that price, I will sell it all in pieces.

If anyone here wants it for $3,500 before then, it's yours.

I am in CT if someone here takes it and wants to pick it up.

When it goes on ebay, it will be shipped ONLY (unless I know you).

The LaserActive will be part of the lot. The Vectrex will not.
