D.Yancey #2 Posted August 23, 2005 (edited) 915919[/snapback] I seldom see a post go unanswered here in this forum. I have to ask which one of the patches in the photo are you asking about? The one that just says Activision didn't go with any games. It is just a generic patch to put on your jacket. I think I have one of these somewhere.? I seem to remember an old photo with a person having that patch sewn on a hat. Maybe it was in Activision's newsletter or in Joystik magazine. ATARIPITBULL #6 Posted August 27, 2005 I collect Atari patches also and I don't have an Activision patch like that, nice score.
Philflound #7 Posted August 27, 2005 If they're guessing as to the color, I don't think they own the patch. Maybe they got the picture from an auction or other website. Phil

D.Yancey #9 Posted August 28, 2005 (edited) The photo I spoke of above is in Joystik magazine December 1982 page 4. Todd Rogers is wearing the hat. With very close observation... this may be a silk screen design on the hat and not the actual patch. It's worth a look anyway. I've no scanner to post it. Maybe someone knows a link to this? Ahh! here's a link to the pic!! http://cvmm.vg-network.com/intro1.jpg Edited August 28, 2005 by D.Yancey

pinball22 #11 Posted August 29, 2005 Ok, that page has some of the dumbest objections to the Atari ever. I realize that back then we were all more naive about the whole idea of how a game system should work, but these things never occurred to me, even back then. "On the negative side, we feel that: 1) there are too many wires connecting too many parts (to the TV, the wall outlet, the joysticks, and the paddles); 2) the TV makes a lot of static when a cartridge is removed; 3) graphics, especially in older games, are quite poor; and, 4) too many game options are packed into each game cartridge, and you must scan through them all to get to the one you want to play." 1) They liked systems where the controllers were on the console and you had to fight for space and get a backache better? And how exactly are you supposed to avoid having wires to the TV and power? Maybe they'd rather buy a gazillion batteries. 2) That's what happens when a TV has no input on a channel. Amazing. I guess that's also a negative for owning a TV. I suppose they mean they want the Atari to make a blank screen when you pull out the cartridge, but why were they taking out the cartridge without turning it off in the first place? 4) Oh no! They've given me too many games for my money! I'm upset by them!
D.Yancey #12 Posted August 29, 2005 Zoinks! I just put that link up there for the photo of the patch. I could have cropped out all the other garbage.
pinball22 #13 Posted August 30, 2005 But then we wouldn't have gotten to laugh at the fear of white noise.
