what about old atari ads?

I was looking through the page, and looking through the old catalogs... and then I thought, there should be a section for all those ads that were made back in the day! I know I have old comic books with Atari game ads... I think it would be a cool little feature... I think I'm going to start thumbing through some old comic books....

 

What does everyone else think?

The AHS does indeed have a lot of cool ads, both print and televised. The television ads will probably be changing soon, as I remastered and cleaned up the audio, so Curt just has to download the new remastered ads and put 'em online. Hopefully about a week depending on Curt's schedule.

I've scanned a few ads myself and would be willing to scan more, but unfortunately the majority of my classic magazine collection is about 7000 miles away back at home (along with the majority of my consoles).

I've noticed that Parker Bros - one of my favorite 3rd party companies - was fond of advertising on the back cover of Spider-Man comics.

Yeah, PB advertised on all major Marvel comics back covers during the mid-80's. I've got comics with ads for SW:TAG, Montezuma's Revenge, Frogger, Frogger II, Tutankham, but none with an ad for SPIDER-MAN!!! Go figure!

I know that Marvel Comics, as well as Archie comics had lots of video game ads.... I remember the one for Masters of the Universe - that was on them for a long while!

We are planning on scanning as many Atari-related ads as we can get our hands on and linking them into the database. For instance, if we have ten ads that feature Activision's Pitfall!, then our Pitfall! entry will have links to each of those ads. In addition, you'll be able to get lists of all the ads overall, as well as which games appear in them. Will be quite nice when it's finished.

The ad I'd like to get ahold of is the Activision Ice Hockey Tv ad that Phil Hartman was in. That one was pretty good.
