Good Deal on a 7800

Recommended Posts

I found a very good condition 7800 with two controllers, the tv cord and original power supply at a local thift store and was wondering if $20.00 for all this was a good deal or not. Thanks.

Yeah, grab it. If you've already got one, you could throw a few commons in and ebay this one for twice what you paid.

Good system, too.

If the system works it is a great deal. I have had some bad 7800's over the years. Check the return policy before buying.

this was just won by me :) I think I got a good deal, I hope so anyway. Are any of these games any good? I must confess I was more excited about the Solaris on 2600 than the 7800 games.

Pretty much all of the games for the 7800 you got in that sale are fun. Asteroids is gonna be quite different for ya on 7800 (and much better IMO).

Yeah, fasten your seat belt for Asteroids. Use your favorite 2600 controller for it, though.

Ditto for Galaga.

I play em both with a FB2 joystick on their hardest settings.

My other 7800 favorites have to be Donkey Kong and perhaps Rampage.

What does a CC2 cost these days? I want one but I probably don't have the money today...

$20 is a good deal. I almost bid on that 7800 auction, but changed my mind 'cause there were no games I wanted.

$200 for the cart, plus about $30 for the Multimedia card and a reader. If you want a pokey, that's under $10.

You're probably looking at $260 shipped and ready for pokey sound.

Except I think the 15% sale Curt is doing on the CC2 is still just about going at the moment ;)

(so that's the CC2 for $170)

Damn. That'll be a couple of paychecks... a little out of the reach of a poor college student. Ah, well. I guess anything worth having is worth waiting for.

Just an update, my 7800 and all the games arrived today, and along with discovering that my Tomcat: The F-14 Fighter Simulator has the "For the Atari 2600 or Atari 7800 in 2600 Mode" wrong label on it (it's the 7800 version) I've found Joust to be one of the most addictive games I've ever played on any system ever. I think this just might be my favorite version of Joust, maybe even more fun than arcade (although I've only played that a couple of times, and then it was a cocktail)...

I'm a total convert to the 7800, though. I love it.
