rhettlg #1 Posted August 30, 2005 If you have a monitor that would work for an Atari Football 2 player game please let me know. Thanks, Rhett
Ralph3 #2 Posted August 30, 2005 Where are you? You might get a (more) response if we know where you are located. I sold a complete working AF about 2 years ago, good luck finding one of those beasts of a moniter.
Cassidy Nolen #3 Posted August 30, 2005 I think that was a Standard 23 inch (21 viewable, IIRC) that Atari used back then. Midway also used the same monitor. All of the upright Midway drivers used it as did Night Driver, Basketball, Sprint 2, etc etc. Should be easy enough to find one. If you are anywhere near me, I can put you in touch with somebody. You may have to buy a junker machine to get the monitor, but I have done that PLENTY of times for the black and white ! What is wrong with yours? If its the chassis, most tv shops could help you figure that one out (if you did not want to tinker yourself) or if its the tube, they may be able to "shoot" it for you and get you going again (monitors mounted that way tended to get dim faster). vespertillio #4 Posted September 1, 2005 I actually have a spare 2 player football. I needed some parts for another and found a whole one locally lol. The monitor works, though is a little light. I was planning on selling the spare football as a project for someone lol. Where are you located?

maibock #7 Posted September 2, 2005 Be honest, Cassidy.. Is it still a fun game? I remember as a kid playing non stop as long as my parenst would let me. I'd dream about playing and running plays and such. For me at around age 10 or so, it was THE cat's meow. I'm just wondering if the game play still holds up, or it's one of those that time doesn't treat to well.. hmm maybe I don't want to know

Up until last year my friends and I would frequent this bar that had a warehouse filled with coin-ops attached. We would play Football all of the time. When that place closed I went over theere to see if they were selling the coin-ops but ti wa already cleaned out. Man, do your hands hurt from slapping that trackball after awhile
maibock #9 Posted September 2, 2005 Man, do your hands hurt from slapping that trackball after awhile 923935 "slapping the trackball"? Is that what you kids call it now a days? Yeah, I know what you mean - talk about carpal-tunnel problems.. Happy to hear it still plays well. I'd really like to find one..
Cassidy Nolen #10 Posted September 3, 2005 I think the gameplay aged extremely well, unlike most other sports games. The play selector is still cool, the trackball feel is great, and the b&w screen reminds you of the bronze age Atari-greatness. The magic of the game though is if you have good trackballs. Terrible game if you don't, as your fingers get caught under the edge of the panel. VERY painful... Nobody was making the trackball shafts a few years back, so you had to get creative to keep one going. Above and beyond steel wool, I found a machine shop that could add weld material to the shaft then lathe it back down even. Expensive (probably 100 for the four shafts) but might be worth it if you have a bad set and cant find replacements. The one I sold was very clean. Still had the green film over the monitor to make it look like grass. I always loved that era coin door, too. Something about dropping the quarter in like a kiddie ride that was so much cooler than the modern plastic mechs. Cassidy
