Not to pound on you, but those two negative feedbacks with instant retaliation would keep me from even considering bidding on that.

Just curious since you state in the answer to the question on the cd player that it will play mp3s burned onto a cd. Per buyer, it does not play mp3s, your negative feedback to buyer states that he should have researched the item for himself. My question would be why should he not expect it to play mp3s when you state it would, why would research be needed on the buyers part?

Plus the fact that, as the seller he should have left pos feedback when the seller paid.

When I see a seller pull that crap (withholding feedback as a bargaining chip) I steer clear. That's just low.

I'm not a high-volume eBay user, but I wait to leave positive feedback, as a seller, until I know the transaction is complete. I don't wait for feedback from the buyer, necessarily, just for confirmation of receipt and news that the buyer got what he/she expected. Otherwise, a return/replacement/refund may be in order, and that means more opportunity for good or bad behavior. Am I doing it all wrong?

No, nothing wrong with waiting. That's only Jetset's opinion above. People make too much of a deal out of when the perfect time to post feedback is. Honestly you have plenty of time, at least 90 days, and it's not that important anyway. We all know feedback system is a joke already, no reason to get on a moral high horse over it.

Back to the auctions for a minute, some really cool stuff! I would love to have that Starcon Box! :lust: A couple of those protos jumped out at me as well. I wouldn't of bid on the Starcon, that's just way too high for me as I have a loose one, but I was very tempted by a couple of those protos. I too was scared away by the feedback however.

I used to leave feedback as soon as I was paid. The problem is, there are buyers who are crooks too. They use a negative feedback against the seller for made up stuff, like the game doesn't work, because they changed their mind and don't want it anymore, not because it doesn't work. Same goes for system sales. They buy an Atari and don't like it so they want a refund. If you don't give me a refund I will leave a negative. They tend not to play that game if you have your feedback in reserve. But if you already left a positive, then good luck! This past month, after close to 5 years on EBay, I am withholding my feedback until the buyer leaves theirs and I know all is well with the transaction. It's a shame because most buyers are good people, but there are a few out there that you have to watch out for. And you don't know them until it happens.

kheffington,

Seems like people like you, are allways looking for Dirty Laundry. Did you notice I do have 94% positve feedback too? But that wouldn't be much of a story would it?

If you wanted to know the true story what happened with the CD player you could have PM me in private. But adding your own twist from a couple of lines of feedback makes for a better Story.

Keep up the good reporting.

Your recent feedback isn't very good. If you continue to sell, you might want to open up a new eBay account in order to "start over". 94% positive still means 6% negative. For many buyers that isn't good enough. I am sure that you would have sold more of your items if you had better feedback. I am not attacking you as I don't believe that I have dealt with you before. Good luck with your auctions. You have listed some nice stuff that I am sure most of us would have liked to have added to our collections.

It is not so much the 6% negative that bothers me, it is the instant retaliation especially since at least on the surface the cd player buyer had every reason to expect the unit would play mp3 files based on your yes answer to the question.

I am not looking for a better story, just stating my impression from looking at the feedback and auction.

Good luck with your auction.

kheffington,

I did make a mistake about about it playing MP3's. It was my fault. I had played a Burnt CD in it, but it wasn't in MP3 format. I had answered that question a couple hour before the auction closed. He said that drove up the auction higher then it should have gone. I did offer his money back minus shipping when I got the unit back.

So if someone gave you Negative feedback, you wouldn't respond back?

So that gives you a right to Bash me and my current auctions?

Keep your negative opinions to your own thread. I assumed you meant Opinions instead of Impression? But you don't make mistakes, so maybe you did mean

impression?

I still don't see why you came on my thread to Bash me? I am sure you will justify it some how.

This will be my last post on the subject, I am finished with it, you can continue it as you choose, I will not respond further. You will find that a lot of AtariAge members have comments to make on posts here.

Your insistance that you are being bashed is incorrect. I have not in anyway bashed you.

I am quite capable of choosing my own words, I did not mean "opinion", I used the word "impression", it is exactly the word I chose and meant. The particular dictionary definition of the word below is very close in meaning:

im·pres·sion (ĭm-prĕsh'ən) pronunciation

n.

1. An effect, feeling, or image retained as a consequence of experience.

This is an open forum, not a personal thread, people here will most likely respond to whatever threads they choose to respond to. Only AtariAge moderators would be in a position to tell anyone to stop posting.

As for leaving someone a negative if I received one, not necessarily, it would depend on the circumstances. Besides when selling I normally would not be in the postion to give a retalitory feedback. In general, I give positive feedback to buyers on receipt of payment. There have been a few exceptions but not many.

So if someone gave you Negative feedback, you wouldn't respond back?

Not to join in on the bashing, but negging someone in return if the neg you recieved was indeed deserved is really just being retaliatory, as the user you left a neg in return for didn't really deserve it as he was mislead, even if accidentally. Perhaps a neutral would have been more fitting for the situation, but there aren't many that think things through that far on eBay, so ... it happens. Were it in my place I'd just take the neg and have done with it, though if I felt it was too harsh I'd respond to it in my own feedback to perhaps mitigate the sting a little bit by offering my side of the story (even if it's just to admit that it was my mistake but that a refund was offered).

I think that's what's at the crux of the swarming here (aside from the negs you recieved themselves).

I don't mean to add fuel to the fire -- I've never dealt with you so I won't form an opinion until I have, should that ever come to pass. I do however tend to avoid low feedback sellers if the negs I read don't sit right with me. Understand that eBay is chock full of sellers who feel that nothing is their fault and will retaliate with negs of their own whenever they recieve negative feedback regardless of where the fault acutally lies. Distinguising these idiots from people who may be good and just made a few mistakes is pretty much a guessing game, since there's absolutely no way to determine the veracity of any of the negs, their comments, or the negs left in return, so people will usually err on the side of caution. It's sad that eBay's feedback system is used as a bludgeon so often, but that's the game, unfortunately.

kheffington,

If you weren't Bashing my thread, why did you find the need to mention the 2 negative feedbacks with retaliation? And to comment on a transaction you know nothing about except what you read from a couple lines of feedback?

Why do you feel the need to write negative comments to my post?

So i had a few transactions that didn't go down perfect. There are alot of people out there on EBay.You are not going to make everybody happy.

Are you the Ebay Police watchdog here?

News flash.

We all are Ebay police when it comes to our fellow gamers. You didnt just have 2 transactios go bad. You withheld due feedback when you recieved your money from the buyer. Why? Were you expecting the buyer to have a problem with the item? That's the only reason to not take 12 seconds and thank the buyer for thier business.

There are only 2 types of sellers who stall on feedback.

The 1% who got burned with an undeserved neg from the buyer and are gunshy.

The other 99% who are skanks and are up to something.

We all know feedback system is a joke already

923073[/snapback]

No truer words have been spoken.

We have the people who withhold due feedback and/or leave retliation negs to thank for that...
