Mindfield #1 Posted September 5, 2005 (edited) Since I've upgraded to a Tungsten|T5, I've got a nice spare multimedia PDA that might be of good use to someone. First, the specs: - pa1mOne Zire72 - Intel XScale PXA270 processor at 312MHz - 32mb internal memory (27mb user accessable, 5 megs dynamic heap) - 320x320 active matrix transflective TFT touch-sensitive screen in 65,565 colours - Digital sound (plays WAV and MP3 "out of the box," plus Ogg-Vorbis and other formats with additional software such as PocketTunes) - Capable of playing MPEG, MP4, DiVX and other formats with various movie players - Built-in 1.2MP digital camera with 2x digital zoom and automatic white balance; also works as a digital movie camera with sound (320x240 @ 13FPS or 160x120 @ 20FPS) - Built-in voice recorder with dedicated button - Built-in Bluetooth wireless networking - Rechargeable Li-Ion Polymer battery (approx. 3.5hrs use under heavy load) - SDIO card slot for memory cards (supports at least 1GB capacity; haven't tried the new 2GB cards yet) or SDIO devices (such as a Wi-Fi card) Unit comes with: - Charging cable/AC adapter - USB sync cable - pa1mOne nylon/neoprene "sport" style carrying case - Krussel deluxe top-grain leather carrying case. (Note: The "multidapt" adapter on the back is broken -- the one flaw on these otherwise excellent leather cases, but it's still great protection in good shape). Features two SD card slots, credit card slots, and additional brass snaps in the rear to allow you to open the case down the back to reveal the camera. - 128MB Lexar Media secure digital memory card - ThinkOutside universal wireless (IrDA) four-row "stowaway" type folding keyboard - A pack of Fellowes WriteRight screen protectors. - Chrome stylus (as well as the original plastic one) The Zire72 has been my favourite PDA so far. I've had this one for over a year and it has served me more than well. From playing MP3s to Palm-specific games, emulation (take MAME or many other favourite emulators with you!), Palm-ports of popular PC games (Doom, Quake, etc.), this has everything I've needed to entertain myself on the go. In a more practical venue, this has been exceptional at allowing me to take my collection lists with me via QuickOffice syncing with my Excel spreadsheets, as well as serving as my address book, appointment book, even my alarm clock. I've taken this thing everywhere and used it to its potential, and I can safely say that if you want it to do it, you'll be able to. Cosmetically, this unit does have wear around common access points -- charge/sync ports, voice recorder button, power button and stylus channel. The original Zire 72 units suffered this problem with most people who bought them (which was the reason pa1mOne released the "Zire72s" which is the same thing without the blue rubberized coating). Other than the paint peeling around these areas, plus a small ding or two in the bottom left and right corners, the unit is in excellent shape -- I've taken as good care of this as possible. It has never been used without a screen protector, so the screen itself is pristine. The buttons are all perfectly responsive. The battery still holds a full charge (a benefit of Li-Ion batteries -- much longer life span than NiCD or NiMH). The LCD has no dead or stuck pixels, nor are there any issues whatsoever with the digitizer. The camera and voice recorder all function just as they did when I first bought it. In other words, other than cosmetic wear, there's absolutely nothing wrong with this unit. Plus, you get a bunch of extras not originally included with the package (128 meg SD card, wireless keyboard, chrome stylus, Krussel case, screen protectors) so all in all it's everything you need to get going in style. If anyone's interested, feel free to PM. For those who want to know, I'd be looking to get around US$200-250 for the whole lot, but trades may also be considered. A pic is posted below. (Note: It only shows the PDA, memory card, stylus, keyboard and both cases; the cables and screne protectors aren't shown. The image on the PDA is not exactly representative of what you'll see when/if you get it; pictured there on-screen ZLauncher, the alternative launcher, with a Windows XP skin; ZLauncher is not included) More pictures are available on request. I'll probably end up eBaying it if I have no significant interest here. SOLD Edited September 8, 2005 by Mindfield
