frax #1 Posted September 9, 2005 Hi! Im about to ebay a few rare INTV and Vectrex items. What ending day and time should I have so that it suits US bidders. Anything else I should think about? /frax
crunchysuperman #2 Posted September 9, 2005 Don't end it on Sunday. Middle of the week should do you just fine.

Red 5 #4 Posted September 9, 2005 Spend the extra change on a gallery picture. A lot of people don't even click on auctions unless they see a picture. Use as many 'hot words' as you can in your description so people can find what you are selling. Tell people what the shipping charges will be. Sell a few less expensive items first. First time sellers usually have their items sold for much lower because people are nervous about bidding from a newbie. Get three or four sold items under your belt before you try to go for the big sales or you may be disappointed in the final price. Good luck !
hookem #5 Posted September 9, 2005 Don't end it on Sunday. Middle of the week should do you just fine. 928111 Why not end it Sunday? I always thought that was the best time; it runs over the weekend, everyone is home for the final bid war, and they can usually expect it to arrive during the next week if they pay fast. http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abu/y204/m02/abu0113/s04 BAD times to end the auction - * Holidays (people are out of town) * Friday or Saturday evenings (people are out) * Working hours during the week If you don't have much of an Auction history, you might want to invite people to "contact seller" with any questions... and set a reserve if you are worried about the items going for cheap because you have no history. Finally, post a link to your auction here... I'd be curious about the vectrex stuff. What do you have?
davepesc #6 Posted September 9, 2005 I think the theory is that the most auctions end Sunday, so your auction is swimming with all the others. If what you're selling is truly teh R4REZ!!1!!1, ending doesn't matter, snipers will be set.
maibock #7 Posted September 9, 2005 Be clear, concise and above all be HONEST! I'll stay clear of auctions that show a bit of ambiguity and thoughtlessness. If a person can't put an effort in the auction, most certainly there was no effort in the item or shipping. Most items that go for less than market, generally are because of a crappy auction presentation. Take your time with it..
holygrailvideogames.com #8 Posted September 9, 2005 Hi! Im about to ebay a few rare INTV and Vectrex items. What ending day and time should I have so that it suits US bidders. Anything else I should think about? /frax 928103 If the items are truely rare that you are selling it really won't matter when you start the auction. If they aren't that rare then I would recommend listing in the evenings U.S. time. I would avoid Friday and Monday evenings. I used to end everything on Sundays but this past summer Sunday evenings were slow. I am hoping now that summer is over Sunday nights will pick up again. There usually aren't that many Vectrex items listed on eBay (100 or less). Pretty much every Vectrex item gets noticed - especially the rare items like the 3d Goggles and games. I recently had a lot of success listing Intellivision items on a Wednesday evening. Good luck with your sales.
Zwackery #9 Posted September 9, 2005 (edited) I've had more success lately with ending auction on Monday or Tuesday than on Sunday, specifically around 7-8pm Pacific Coast (US) time. Most people are home from work by then, and it's not too late or too early to hop on the ol' internet. Also, if you are shipping from Sweden, people like to see fairly accurate shipping costs, and being able to take PayPal or other electronic forms of payment will increase interest in your sales. crunchysuperman #10 Posted September 9, 2005 Don't end it on Sunday. Middle of the week should do you just fine. 928111 Why not end it Sunday? I always thought that was the best time For whatever reason, stuff that ends on Sunday usually goes cheap. Search the forums & you'll see several threads about with examples. txsizzler #11 Posted September 9, 2005 Yeah, having auctions end on weekends is usually a bad deal for the seller. I always run mine from Monday to Monday or Tuesday to Tuesday (my days off from work). P.S. Make sure you include shipping charges. Nothing turns me off faster from an auction than a seller not listing shipping fees.
