mumbai #1 Posted September 13, 2005 For ColecoVision buffs ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8217370339 $17 more than the same seller's (unexercised) BIN from last week ... but didn't anyone notice that the game wasn't the North American release? One typically doesn't see a price jump like this for overseas ColecoVision titles, especially one in excess of the last few US versions of this title (boxed) on eBay. Odd. Trade-N-Games #3 Posted September 13, 2005 It was not the North American version? I looked at his BIN and almost did it but the big sticker put me off.
mumbai #4 Posted September 13, 2005 It was not the North American version? The big tip-off is that the North American box doesn't have "SPIELKONSOLE" in big letters on the front of the box (visible in the auction pic). The title lettering on the US version is in green, not purple, the picture is square-framed and not in a rounded-corner frame, and there's (as with all other US SpectraVideo releases) a green banner at the base of the box front that says in large, white lettering "FOR THE COLECO VISION VIDEO GAME SYSTEM". What was offered on eBay is most certainly not the North American release. I can attach a picture of a US version here to prove it.
birdie3 #5 Posted September 13, 2005 Are we talkin' PAL here? As far as I know, all Colecovision carts are region free. Smack me if I am wrong.

No, you're not wrong ... it's simply that despite that cross-capability, non-US titles that were available in the US never sell for amounts on par with their US counterparts. That's what makes the bidding on this particular auction odd (well, at least from my perspective).
video game addict #7 Posted September 14, 2005 What a bunch of pretentious little snobs we US collectors are becoming! I think sometimes it's nice to have on the shelf in any form with the rarer boxes. You get so tired of waiting, so a nice piece in the wrong format still looks great to you when you haven't seen a US version in over a year.. Some people don't place as much emphasis on the format when it plays the same. Besides for a few collector friends, everyone outside the bubble that ever walks into your gameroom isn't gonna know the difference anyway.
