Luc #1 Posted September 14, 2005 Why isn't there a good front-end for the Z26 emulator yet? Of all the front-ends available, I like Z-Launch best because it's small, it shows a screenshot of every game in my rom directory and makes it easy to navigate through the games. Unfortunately it always crashes on my Windows 2000 machine after playing a game ("execution error 5") so I always have to restart it, which is pretty annoying. (It happens on Win98 too). Don't you think it would be great to have a decent front-end that does not only show a screenshot, but also a box scan and cartridge scan in a separate tab? Just an idea... Luc #3 Posted September 14, 2005 Do mean a Z26-exclusive front end? 931200 Doesn't really matter, as long as it can handle the Z26-emulator...
BeerGnome #4 Posted September 16, 2005 I've always found the Z-26 GUI itself just fine personaly.. pretty light an elegant and fine for what needs to be done I've never had any luck at all with Z-launch.. but keep in mind.. I've been running MAME since before there were GUI's so coding in paramaters is not a problem.. GUI's just make me lazy besides the config file for Z-26 handles all your paramaters.. just put them down on a line to line basis in txt and its all good.. hell a GUI for an atari EMU is just.. well.. too much
+stephena #5 Posted September 16, 2005 hell a GUI for an atari EMU is just.. well.. too much 932404 The next version of Stella will have a GUI, just like the one from ScummVM. We've tried to keep it minimal, so hopefully most people won't find it too bloated. Of course, if you don't want to use it, you'll be able to launch Stella with a ROM and it will work just as before.
