JB #1 Posted September 15, 2005 From Insert Credit: Sam & Max, the popular adventure detectives of PC adventure history, are set to return to the gaming world, courtesy of Telltale Games. The surprise announcement came at the end of a keynote speech last night at the Future of Digital Entertainment conference in San Francisco; Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell gave the mostly Freelance Police-experienced developer the go-ahead to make the game, which will not be related to last year's cancelled sequel. Emehr #3 Posted September 15, 2005 Frankly I'd rather see the return of Full Throttle or some other LucasArts point'n'click adventure. While the humor in Sam&Max was great, I hated the puzzles, which consisted of such obscurity as "use chewed bubble gum on scissors with yarn to open door" (well, not exactly that, but you get the drift). After playing through Full Throttle and Day of the Tentacle I thought the design in Sam&Max was a step back. I feel the same way about the Monkey Island game for PS2. Great humor, but obscure-as-heck puzzles. But hey, if this new Sam&Max has more logical puzzles then I'm all for it. - Jason
Ze_ro #4 Posted September 16, 2005 Hopefully this pans out and turns out to be a success... if it does, then maybe LucasArts will be convinced to go back to some of their languishing franchises rather than just pumping out Star Wars games constantly. There's plenty of life left in Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion/Day of the Tentacle. There was no good reason for the point & click adventure genre to die. --Zero

Albert #6 Posted September 16, 2005 This is great news, thanks for sharing it! I've always been a huge fan of Lucasarts' classic adventure games, including Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle, Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, Loom, The Dig, and so forth. It's a shame that this genre has been dropped by nearly every game company, especially done with the humor found in most of the older titles (I also miss the old Sierra adventure games). Glad to see this has been picked up again, hopefully it'll be completed this time around! ..Al
sigma #7 Posted September 16, 2005 Personally, I'd rather see another Grim Fandango, but that's just me.
Tanukitsune #8 Posted September 16, 2005 Personally, I'd rather see another Grim Fandango, but that's just me. 932391[/snapback] Tim Schafer doesn't do sequels... This is good news, althought "A Vampire Story" is still the most expected adventure on my list...
Stingray #9 Posted September 16, 2005 Hopefully this will turn out to be a success so more of the other titles mentioned in this thread can have a similar rebirth. I'm a huge fan of all of the Lucasarts point & click adventure titles. I'd have to say that Sam & Max was my second favorite, Day of the Tentacle is absolutely the best of the genre IMO. -S
