$35 good for N64 Zelda?

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this should be in the marketplace--if so, please move it there.

Anyway, I just picked up loose carts of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.

These same games were stolen three years ago, and they were CIB. They had collector boxes and maunals.

They, and the carts I have now, have collector labels (Ocarina is a gold cart, Majora's Mask has the 3D label).

I paid $60 each for the first ones, and just today I paid $35 for two loose carts.

think that's a good deal?

well..as always..the price is going tobe what the market will bear..as for the games in question.. I got ocarina of time for the missus when I picked up a used N64 for $20 from gamestop.. I paid about that same price for the game that went in the system.. i have no idea if the gold cart is worth anymore than the standard gray one I got.. but if you got both those games you mentioned loose, then thats not a bad deal at all

IMHO

depends on how patient you are. Me, I wouldn't have paid that much, i've been able to pick up N64 games for $2-$5 at flea markets and garage sales. One being the first Zelda. I can't play Majoras Mask because I don't have the expansion pack thing.

It's not cheap, but it's not a ridiculous price either -- especially since you were willing to pay it. Might as well have gotten the Cube version, though. A used Cube is only $60 these days, well worth it.

And that's another thing... has anyone noticed what the 4-game (gray) Zelda disc is going for lately? This was "only" available when you either bought a new console at a certain time, subscribed to Nintendo Power, or some third method which I can't remember right now (maybe it was buy three GC games). The 4-game disc is going for like $75 or so on ebay. But the 2-game (red) disc (which was only a Windwaker pre-order bonus), which is rarer, goes for less because it's not as desirable.

...which is why I'm glad I got those five 4-game discs that I found shrinkwrapped at a Goodwill for $10 each.

Really? Crazy. Considering all the different ways one *could* have obtained a copy, both versions should be Combat-common. Weird thing about those discs: the saves aren't compatible between the different versions, but you need to have both discs if you want to have all variations of the different games. The four-game version is missing the "remix" of Ocarina of Time.

I don't have the cube anyway. I guess its more about replacing what was stolen, though, than replacing the game itself.

I got finished with Shining Force last night, then began Ocarina of Time. It's pretty engaging for the second time around.

I never finished Majora's Mask the first time, so now is my chance.

EBgames has Ocarina of time for $10 and Majora's Mask for $15 near me. So you didn't get the best deal but you weren't ripped off either. You shouldn't really have to pay more than $15 for an N64 game unless you are desperate for it and can't find it anywhere for that price loose. CIB is a slightly different story since those are hard to come by these days.

Yeah, look ahrd enough and you'll find the collector carts, but you won't find the boxes.

I couldn't get the merchant to part with either box, even though they were on display. That's why I thought the games were boxed to begin with.

Win some, lose some.

Are the $10 Ocarina carts gray or gold? I think I've seen a few gray ones for $10.

BTW, N64 games around here are usually $10, with the more popular ones at $15 or even $20.

Anything Madden is found in the discount bargain bin for $5.

I priced what it would cost to restore my original collection from this point:

$5 each for two rumble paks

$10 each for SF Rush and Shadows of the Empire

$15 for KI Gold.

$10 each or so for a gray and blue non pokemon controller.

I got StarFox the other day, too for $10.

All my other carts except Perfect Dark are one owner items. XG2 hasn't really been played at all. Not that it's a bad gamne, but wipEout 64 was released at the same time.

I hate to be a naysayer, but $35.00 loose isn't a very good deal. My local EB Games has OOT gold version loose for $9.99, grey version for $7.99. While MM loose with the 3D label goes for $7.99. But I think that my local store is trying to get rid of all of their cartridge games.
