Draikar #1 Posted September 20, 2005 (edited) Here is a new seller. Its quite apparent he is bidding his own stuff up. Every auction has the same bidder that JUST joined eBay to bid on his used Xbox, guitar and old bike. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZvejar717QQhtZ-1 Edited September 20, 2005 by Draikar
Ken Meoni #2 Posted September 20, 2005 Wait until he gets hit with the seller fees and he wins all his own auctions. I guess he can file NPB against himself.
video game addict #3 Posted September 20, 2005 I wonder if he feels he's saving himself some money? He listed all of these auctions with reserve, then immediately bid on them to bump up & meet reserve. So he's started the bidding lower than the reserve, then bid to hit reserve. I think the way ebay works, your listing fee is based off the reserve price now. So a .99 cents auction with $50 reserve will pay listing fees based off a $50 opening bid. You still receive the reserve fee credit after successful auction close, but you don't save by listing low with reserve & bumping your auction to that price. He could have listed low without a reserve, then bid on each of these to the minimum he was willing to sell for, and his shill account would act as a reserve. Could have saved a little money doing it this way.

They don't show up as retracted under the auctions or on the user profile page. And the account is still active

Ken Meoni #10 Posted September 21, 2005 I did an advanced search under the bidder and it does not show he bid on the others?? Just the one item. They both live in California. That's all I can dig up.

Maybe when EBay takes bids away, they erase them so there is no record? I don't know. It's strange that the bids are still on the x-box though. Maybe this is one for the x-files or something. video game addict #13 Posted September 21, 2005 You know what would make for an interesting show would be something like an x-files or unsolved mystyeries all about ebay! Have them track down deadbeat bidders & scam artists on ebay, make them pay up, and prosecute. Have someone that creates new accounts just to get taken, then pop'em good when they show up on front porch steps. I'd watch!
taxman #14 Posted September 21, 2005 He ended his auctions early and relisted them.
video game addict #15 Posted September 21, 2005 D'oh! I didn't look hard enough! I still wasn't aware when the seller deletes your bid, your bid history disappears. Only the one auction shows up in his history, so it looks like he hasn't bid on anything else.
