Phantasy Star Online question (DC, XBOX)

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to upgrade my DC version of Phantasy Star Online to the Xbox version, but I can't seem to find any info as to if the OFFLINE portion of the game has been ported over. Anyone know?

I have Phantasy Star I & II for the Gamecube, which I heard is the same as the XBox version. The offline portion is there, as a matter of fact I don't even play it online since I don't have broadband. I've heard too many nightmares about using 56k modems in modern online gaming.

HOWEVER... the XBox version of PSO won't work, EVEN in offline mode, unless you have an XBox Live subscription.

That was such a rip-off, making people who wanted to play offline have to pay for Xbox LIVE. That's why I ended up getting the GameCube version. The extra levels aren't as good as the original PSO's levels, in my opinion. But still, it's a good game, and fairly cheap now that it's a couple years old. I just wish I could get my old Dreamcast characters and stats onto the GameCube version. I hated having to build my character up again. But being able to have multiple character saves on the GC, I was able to start a new character class and play multiplayer with my level 60+ character, and give him all my good upgrades, armor plugins, and weapons. So I can start out a new character a little stronger.
