Lucky Man #26 Posted November 15, 2006 Thomas, both of those are much better on my TV. Just a little rolling sometimes in the 2nd or 3rd stages, but no big deal. I'm so glad you also fixed the 282 line version because it's so much more enjoyble to play than the other. Just that little bit of extra playfield on the top helps me to avoid the other motorcycles much better. Thanks again! BTW, I think Al should put this on the Conversions page. I'm sure I'm not the only one in NTSC-land that might enjoy playing this game.
Thomas Jentzsch #27 Posted November 15, 2006 Thomas, both of those are much better on my TV. Just a little rolling sometimes in the 2nd or 3rd stages, but no big deal. Still rolling? Try the attached one. This one has to be stable, because where the timing is critical, I am using the original values again. Just that little bit of extra playfield on the top helps me to avoid the other motorcycles much better. Thanks again! Now imagine having 42 visible lines more. Then you have the PAL version. BTW, I think Al should put this on the Conversions page. I'm sure I'm not the only one in NTSC-land that might enjoy playing this game. Really? At least in "PAL-land" not many people like it. Lucky Man #29 Posted November 16, 2006 Okay. That pretty much did it. I played several games last night and I only got a quick roll one time in the 3rd stage. I do have a question, though... It seems like the accelerator (button) is less responsive in revision c. I may be crazy, but it seems like I have to hold the button down much longer before the bike gets moving than on revision b. I played both versions back to back a few times. It's hard to be sure because it's a subtle difference, but it just seemed like I didn't have those quick bursts of speed available when I needed to get out of a tight situation fast. Is it possible this may have been changed by the some of the NTSC fixes you implemented, Thomas?
Thomas Jentzsch #30 Posted November 16, 2006 Is it possible this may have been changed by the some of the NTSC fixes you implemented, Thomas? I don't think so. This must be a subjective impression.

Lucky Man #33 Posted November 16, 2006 Is that a nice way of saying "You crazy, boy!"? What can I say now? Alright. Well, thanks so much for converting this even if I'm the only one that enjoys the game. BTW, I've always had a problem with Dumbo's Flying Circus rolling too (see post above). Have you ever thought about trying to fix that one? Rom Hunter said it is 286 lines and I think someone else told me that the line # increases at certain parts of the game. Is this even fixable? +thegoldenband #34 Posted June 15, 2011 (edited) I spent a little bit of time playing this game (Motocross) on my Harmony cart today. I was getting the occasional screen roll exactly where Lucky Man describes it in his post #26, i.e. towards the start of the later levels. I searched and found this thread. The versions being distributed in the collection I was using (one of the "Hacks and Homebrews" sets) were marked as Motocross (NTSC Conversion) (2006) (Thomas Jentzsch) [a].bin Motocross (NTSC Conversion) (2006) (Thomas Jentzsch).bin It turned out that [a], the one I was playing, was this thread's "274b", while the other one was "282b". I hadn't tried the 282-line version yet, so I downloaded "282c" and played it. Works like a charm -- it's stable and you can see more of the playfield. Many thanks to Thomas! I'll also make a post in the Hacks and Homebrews thread, though it hasn't been updated in quite a while and the original curator is no longer maintaining it. Lucky Man #35 Posted June 15, 2011 Yes, I've been meaning to send the last version Thomas did, along with the conversions from my other thread to Albert to put up on the Conversions page, but I'm still waiting for someone to convert the last game we need (Panda Chase) and then Al can just do them all at once. +thegoldenband #36 Posted June 15, 2011 Thanks for reminding me about that thread, it'd totally dropped off my radar. And yes, barring any tweaks needed to remove screen rolls in existing conversions, we're just one game away, which is great. It's really nice being able to check out some of these PAL games -- Motocross is actually pretty fun.

Perhaps it might motivate one of our resident programmers to finish the last conversion. I think Motocross is fun, too. I was just playing it last weekend.
