Looks like first pix would be Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye. I voted for 'em.

They're both easy to get, too.

Glad to see so much interest! Content will similar to AA. Title lists, hardware info, lots of scans, gome of the month, message boards, etc...

For those of you who remember VintageGamer.com, expect something like that except it will look better and and have a lot more content. :)

I just got into N64 about 6 months ago, and these are some of my faves:

Perfect Dark : IMHO better than Goldeneye in everyway, in single player that is, multiplayer is too damn choppy

Mario Kart : kinda easy, fun multiplayer is where this game is at

Mario Tennis: Simply fun and addictive, but yet again, multiplayer

Duke Nukem 64: True its watered down, but to be able to actually play it :) ( I couldnt get this game running in VESA even with my new badass computer and Dosbox

i found perfect dark to be great ,and all ,but i found the menu system at the begining of the game to be a little confusing. I havent played Goldeneye in years i still need to get it.

When I first saw my friend setting up a game of Perfect Dark, I told him that it looked really confusing. He said it wasn't. I bought it, and he was right. Just takes some practice.

If memory serves, it's pretty good because it lets everyone do their setup in parallel, right? I hate games like Quake III on DC, where you have to wait for every to play set up...and the process is surprisingly clunky.

I was impressed by the visual details they put behind the menu in PD. It's just eyecandy, but very smart looking eyecandy.

Correct. I just love all of the Beta rare put into their games. It has kept them alive for years, like the Citadel in GE, along with the Dam's Island. http://www.detstar.com anyone?

What do you mean by "Beta", just secret stuff that was in there for the Beta testing but taken out for the final release?

I guess just in general the level of detail they have is very impressive. I just finished Timesplitters: Future IMperfect which I think is thought to have the closest thread to the original GoldenEye team (at least for earlier TS games) and I think the amount of polish is pretty terrific. It's also one of the funniest games I've seen in a long while, I'd say I laughed more often than w/ Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Bets meaning stuff there for beta testing, and left in the game where Rare thought it could never be found. Also, if you need any help regarding the site, I'd be happy to help. :)

If this isn't the place to post this, just ignore it. I was wondering though, if anyone had some games I should check out. I used to play N64 a lot when I was younger, then I forgot all about it. But I was at some sell/trading store the other day and I saw a bunch of games really cheap. I've also been checking out eBay and I have a few auctions on my Nabit to watch, but I'd like to hear some gamers opinions.

Nothing to difficult, just to get me into the swing of things again. Please?

This is all good. The N64 doesn't have that much good representation on the net.

Hey, how about an N64 mode for the site, where everything on screen gets so anti-aliased that you can't read it? (jk ;) )

Hey, whaddaya think this is, NintendoAge or smething!? :P

Just kidding, and welcome.

I've found that most N64 titles can be had for under $10. That won't get you anything rare, but it'll a bunch of the system's better games.

The two Zeldas will cost ya a little more, as will StarCraft (well, SC might cost ya a LOT more).

You can even find some boxed N64 titles dirt cheap, too.

Word to the wise: If you care how good the cartridge looks, go ahead and pay a buck or two more for the game, and ask to look the cart over before you buy it. some stores like to cover damaged back labels with their own printout instruction sheets, or with price stickers.

Let me add a couple of games to the list:

I second Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Zelda: Ocarina of Time (sometimes known as Zelda V)

To that, add extreme-G, XG2, and wipEout 64, all of which can be had for under $5 apiece.

Also, try to get Command & Conquer. It could cost up to $20, but it's worth that and more. It's the best console version of that game.

Hmmm, what other game types...fighting games. It's got KI Gold, which is decent.

I'm very fond of the N64 as I got it on launch day. Actually, I got it in late August. I believe it was supposed to be launched in early Sept. and I had pre-ordered it from TRU. They called and left a message saying my N64 was in and ready to be bought like a week before I expected. How awesome was that? lol I was like 14-15 years old, back when videogames were LIFE! :D But, before all this, I remember walking in TRU in early or mid 1996 and they had a Jap N64 display playing Mario 64, and OMFG that was incredible! I had bought a PS on launch day as well and had many games, and after seeing Mario 64 and it's smooth textured-greatness, I was in awe. (I was working already at 15 and bought all my games with my own money. :D )

I remember I got all 120 stars before WaveRace was released. With no guide book either. I just played the shit out of the game. It was awesome. Then The GF with the cover of WaveRace 64 came out and praised the shit out of it so I bought that game on its launch day. There were people waiting outside for the stores to open on the day Waverace was launched, I was surprised! But, I wasn't even expecting much from Waverace, maybe just a fun racing game. But boy, this game was just SICK! The water was something I'd NEVER seen. The controls were spot-on. The AI was perfect. The game was seriously fun.

Anyway, the N64 kicks ass. All these people that complain about muddy textures and the such forget that this system was the FIRST to employ this technology, and in cart format. Overall, the smooth look of N64 games really made it stand out from the PS and Saturn imo. Sure, the PS could move more poly's, but the N64 didn't have ANY pixels! Which added to the realism of the 3-d games immensely.

I could go on and on but I'll stop here. ;)

IMO the PSone is cheap and yuky, the only PSone games i enjoyed were SmackDown 1 and 2 and Metal Gear Solid, PS2 is a great System but PSone was just terrrible.

The N64 is my favourite machine as i have already said, i got lots of great memories with that machine.

The N64 became my second newer-gen console when I was spinning up on gaming. I picked up one of the Orangey decks and have slowly been accumulating matching controllers for it. As for carts, I'm trying to wrap up the portion of that collection for what I care about.

My recent additions were:

Hot Wheels (good lord that's stupid-hard racing)

Dual Heroes - boxed (think 3-d fighter as various power ranger like characters)

Asteroids 64 - boxed ( just like the pc version, but I like the pc ver. better)

Indiana Jones - boxed (I haven't played it yet, but it looks like 3d platformer fare)

I also deleted Milo's Astro Lanes from my want list because it's bowling and I don't do most sports or wrestlers (with the occasional golf title that I can take or leave)

The big wants right now are Battlezone, the other Castlevania (ha!), and a loose complete Pikachu deck. I like Pokemon -- cope. :)

Hope you get the site up n running, but do it right regardless.

Hex.

[ knows how to do all sorts of stuff 'wrong'. . . ]
