Was Atari trying to get rights to DK Jr. in 83?

And for Atari 2600: Sea Sentinel, never heard of that?

Its bad, thats so many games never see the light, and Atari crash so early.

Yeah, I wanna play Street Fight! ( I know that didn't occur in the same time period, but I want to play it anyways).

We think Sea Sentinel may have been a early name for Aquaventure, but we're not sure. Makes sense to me.

I don't have a 5200 but does Bezerk have the computer voice to it?

If that was just a misprint, then it sure was a serious misprint.

By the way, Atari eventually did produce Donkey Kong Jr. for the 2600. OK, it was just a rerelease of the version that Coleco did a few years earlier, but it did happen, so there's no need for a lawsuit.

It sure would have been interesting to see how the 5200 version would have turned out!

The 5200 version would have been exactly the same as the Atari 400/800 version. It's actually pretty good and close to the arcade original.

I don't think it was a misprint, I think there must have been something with the copyright that let Atari produce a version for the 5200. Notice they make no mention of the much more popular Donkey Kong, just DK Jr.

lets not forget that around this time nintendo was trying to get atari to carry the nes in america. it might not match up perfect but its a possibility.

i think the deal went sould when atari saw coloeco running a donkey kong game at a ces.

but that still doesnt explain how dk dkjr and mario bros would up on the 7800 in 1988!

"We think"? Is this pluralis majestatis or pluralis modestiae, or...?

That would be Scott Stilphen thinks and I agree. He's the Master of Catalogs, I swear he digs up the most useful information sometimes...

What is the issue around DK JR ? The 8-bit cart came out in 83. Did the rights not apply to consoles?

Heh, heh - Maybe its a "collectaurus aestimare" (collectors guess) What an idea! We, pluralis modestiae, could corrupt Latin for a collectors language.

Looking for "Rarae Moduli",
