ATARIeric #1 Posted September 30, 2005 Was holosseum a big hit ? I remember playing the game, but I have only seen it in one arcade in the early 90s and the most I really spent in that game had to of been less than $10. all I can think of why I havent spent more was I think the game cost $1 for first credit and 50cents for each credit after. Anyone here liked or loved that game & has some stories to share ?
SteveW #2 Posted October 4, 2005 Was that by Sega? I remember playing it once, but I couldn't get into it. I barely remember anything about the game now.
Cassidy Nolen #3 Posted October 4, 2005 Saw one go at the Baltimore winter auction in 02 for pretty strong money. Big monster cabinet and it was not working, IIRC. Laserdisc player and a Sony TV. Near 800 I think. I remember seeing it and being amazed. I never actually played games that were that "cool" because I remember watching my money go so quickly. Dragon's Lair was another like that. I still lose money every time I play it (dead in about 10 seconds). C

Shaggy the Atarian #5 Posted October 4, 2005 While I've never seen a real cabinet, this site says that this game which was only the second game to use the technology made $18 million. Still I find that strange as I've never heard anyone ever talk aobut it or a location that has one...

I do remember walking in the fox theatre arcade & that was the first machine you would see right in the center as you walk in. The only other place ive seen one of those cabinets but had the time traveller game was at grandprix raceorama "the worlds largest arcade" Edited October 4, 2005 by ATARIeric
Ralph3 #7 Posted October 4, 2005 There was one at an auction here in St. Louis a couple years ago. IIRC it went for something like $300. Nobody really wanted it in case something went wrong with it. It was working perfectly at the time. The Holloseum wasn't laser disk based but Time Traveller is LD based. Digital Leisure re-released Time Traveller on DVD a while ago(I do have it by the way). C 942063[/snapback] I've always felt the same way- when it looked too complicated (and usually 50 cents a play), I figured I would just waste my money trying to figure out the controls and what to do, so I stopped and admired the game, and then moved on to Pac-Man and Galaga. I had to try Dragon's Lair when it came out, because everyone was trying it. After I lost my 50 cents in like 3 seconds flat, that was the end of it for me. Cassidy Nolen #9 Posted October 4, 2005 I am pretty sure they still had the player in it. May want to hit RGVAC to see details. I only ever saw one on location at a Time Out in Springfield Mall (talk about a generic mall name). Tons of people playing it and there I stood with my dollar in tokens before walking away... joeybastard #10 Posted October 4, 2005 There was 1 of these in a place called the Baja I used to go to until it closed. It was a bar attached to a big warehouse filled with coin-ops. When the Baja closed I went over there hoping to pick up something cheap but the games were all gone. It wasn't a great game IMHO but the visusals were pretty striking at first. The Baja closed about 2 years ago so there might be one of these machines in a warehouse on Long Island somewhere.
