sku_u #2 Posted October 6, 2005 Nice. I have one of those myself. Here's a pretty exhaustive hardware/peripheral list for you: http://www.gamerzuniverse.net/atari/Atari%...ity%20Guide.htm It's missing some stuff and hasn't been updated in a while, but it's more or less accurate. ATARIPITBULL #3 Posted October 6, 2005 (edited) I do not think it should be added to the hardware list, since it was not a item sold to the general public, only to licensed Atari dealers, or at least thats what I was told. Atari Rescue Group #4 Posted October 7, 2005 My brother found three joystick extension cables a couple weeks ago. One is still in the Radio Shack "Archer" packaging. It lists half a dozen or so 9-pin platforms it is compatable with. I don't see it in the database--not sure if it rates an entry there. If someone wants a photo of it let me know. Foxsolo2000 #5 Posted October 7, 2005 I disagree. I think it should be added as I for one have never heard of it and I would be surprised if many people in the UK would have heard of it either so add it.

dgob123 #8 Posted October 10, 2005 It sold for 340 dollars in that auction. I reckon its worth adding anyways
Retro Rogue #9 Posted October 10, 2005 I disagree. I think it should be added as I for one have never heard of it and I would be surprised if many people in the UK would have heard of it either so add it. 943982[/snapback] Well, that's what sites like Atari Museum (which that picture in the auction was taken from) and Atari Gaming Headquarters are for. AtariAge can't be everything for everyone and has a specific niche, just as Curt's and Keita/mine's websites don't try and duplicate AtariAge's presentation and material. There's always some crossover, that's unavoidable. AtariAge's strengths though have always been its game database and the forums. In that case, the promo 2600 console should not be listed either, since it was a dealer-only item not for retail sale. I would disagree on the grounds that it is a variation of 2600 hardware - which is what the point of the hardware listing is for. And the promo-sixers still often wound up being sold or given away to the general public (contests, etc.). Not so with test equipment. I could possibly see if Albert wanted to add an "Atari Test Equipment" area or something, but again - that's treading ground on what other sites already cover. Things that were service center only, really shouldn't be listed.

It definitely doesn't belong with the hardware that was available for sale, but it is still interesting to learn about. I do see the point about duplicated content and effort, though. Just being a little lazy, since I enjoy it here so much. It's nice to have so much Atari info in one spot. Maybe a set of links under a heading like 'Atari service and dealer items' in the links area would be the way to go. Not sure how the sites you mentioned are organized, but if possible the links could go directly to this type of info there.
