Gunstar #1 Posted October 6, 2005 (edited) I'm just curious if any VME upgrade boards or other upgrades that use the 68020 or 68030 were made for the Mega STE. My friend uses a PC with Gemulator 98/2000 for his CyberStudio&Chronos-3D/Phoenix for increased speed and then goes back to his ST&Falcon for the finished product, but I'd like to avoid using emulators on the PC as my love is using the real ST. I know it would only increase performance to be around that of the Falcon or TT, but that would be good enough for me. We are in the process of starting up a movie/software "studio" and will be producing both movies and eventually some Jaguar&FAlcon&ST software development (3D polygonal). My friend, Danny Powers, is the main man with the experience and has already done four movies, which use the ST&Cyberstudio for the special effects/graphics in the sci-fi movies. These are already available on VHS and DVD and I will be helping in the conversion to the Jaguar CD's cinepak format. Here is the link (below) to Danny's site where you can get in touch with him if you are interested in his movies. The address to order them is outdated, so you'd have to e-mail him to get them directly. the whole "series" is called 'Rescue Jogger 9' and is pretty good, but he needs help, which is were I come in with my background in art and writing to create better stories and better sets and special effects for future releases. Well, I can't seem to remember the site address and can't find it with Google, so I'll edit later and include the link after I get it again from Dan. Paolo #2 Posted October 6, 2005 Hi, Gunstar. May I ask THE stupid question: why don't you get a Falcon? This way you will START at 030 and can easily expand at [email protected] or 100MHz! Also, if you plan a VME expansion, will you able to use a VME video card as well? Please note: I love my MSTE but my Falcon gets more attention for sure. Gunstar #3 Posted October 7, 2005 (edited) The stupid answer(s) to the stupid question is that I have a Mega STE and not a Falcon, I can never find a Falcon for sale when I have the money, and now that I have a Mega STE, I'd just as soon upgrade it than worry about getting a Falcon. Lastly, at the moment I don't have room for another computer. The Mega STE is enough for me right now, it's far more compatible with ST software than the Falcon, and if I can upgrade it with a video card and accelerator, than it will be all I need. The bottom line is that I'd rather upgrade what I have to continue a futile search for the Falcon, expecially now that I was given a Mega STE. Someday, I'll get one...maybe, but for what I want to use my Atari's for, actually a TT would be better and it's also more expandable itself, but if I can get a video card and accelerator for the MSTE, then I can make it the equivelant of a TT or Falcon anyway for the most part. As for your second question, I'm assuming there is a way to add a video card to the VME and an accelerator board such as an 020 or 030 in another way. I'm figuring that someone would have come up with upgrades knowing that many people want both video cards and accelerators in a MSTE, so that the accelerator upgrade would not take up the VME slot.
