I'm in love with Chucky Cheese!

Recommended Posts

I just took my kids to Chucky Cheese to play and while having fun with them, I see in the middle of the floor a new Donkey Kong video game that also play's Donkey Kong Jr & Mario Bro's, I played Donkey Kong just like I did as a kid till my wife had to drag me away from it, I asked to Manager how much one of these new systems would cost and he told me $3500.00 I don't know if he is right or wrong, but I want one for my basement, it can stand next to my origianl Venture machine from Exidy. Chucky Cheese also had the Ms Pac-Man/Galaxian combo.

:lust: :)

I'm surprised that Chuck e Cheese has any classic games, emulated or otherwise. Most are filled with redemption games and you'll be lucky if they have a few drivers and gun games.

When I flew to California earlier this year, I found one of these machines in our local Airport. The kid only played one game of Donkey Kong before he decided it was too hard (This kid is ace at today's 18-million button games, but can't play Donkey [email protected]!). We ended up playing several games of Mario Bros while waiting for the plane. :D Talk about stepping back into a timewarp! Great fun! ;)

Unfortunately, that is the going rate.

You could get one at auction for less. I would suggest getting a dedicated cab and doing a multi-game kit to it. That way, its "real" and plays on real hardware. I suspect authenticity matters to you man :) You could do that for half of that new one.

I was surprised to see one of these DK combo units right next to a Ms. Pac/Galaga inside Southridge Mall (in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin suburbs) by the food court. It is nice, but the monitor is so huge, it is fitted in on an angle, which gives it a different "feel" than the original DK machine. Also, it has Mario Bros playing on a vertical monitor, instead of the original horizontal, so it doesn't really look authentic. Don't get me wrong, I'd still love to have one of these, but would prefer the original machines

I have a few friends like that.... never made sense to me either... sucks ass at all the good ol' retro games but kills on newer / modern games....

Yah, I felt the same way with the Galaga/Ms. Pac-man units and the Centipede/Millipede/Missile Command ones. Just doesn't look right on a big oversized monitor.

If you want one of these though, they're sold as conversion kits all over the web. Just do a google search. There's also the defender/defender II one, Space Invaders/Qiz, and the Arcade legends (which seems to have the most conversion packs).

To the original poster - that's a bit high. Places like this

are selling them for $2899.

The launderette by me had the 20th Anniversary Reunion Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga combo but they have since replaced it with a pirate that has those games plus Frogger, Mr. Do!, Dig Dug, and a few others...a BAD pirate at that -- the screen is blindingly bright!

Anyhoo...never been to CEC -- Showbiz Pizza Place was my choice for childhood early '80s nerd fun. Ya gotta love the Rock-A-Fire Explosion!

I have seen a couple of Donkey Kong machines here at auctions that look BRAND NEW for $800. I've seen Mario Bros machines in "played" condition for $200. If you can live with the games being in separate cabs, I'd go that route.

I couldn't agree more... and I have yet to have my own arcade machine. Some day I hope to own a Pac-Man or Tempest machine.

It will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine.

Of course, I'm happily aware that (not unlike Lays potato chips) you can't have just one. :) One day I will have my own arcade... Oh yeah!

Fatbottemed girls will be riding today, so forget all your duties OH YEAH!!!!

Man, I haven't been to a Chuck-e-cheese in years. I'd always go for Skee-ball and try to win tickets to get those silly little prizes (like spider rings that won't even fit my pinky now).

Do they still have that dag-burn "Pizza Time Theatre"? Never liked those oversized puppets, esp. when they sang "happy birthday happy birthday, Happy birthday to you." I know they can't sing everyone's name out loud, but why go the mass market route and empty everyone's birthday of all personal touch?

I always did like their pizza though. It had a unique flavor that I did not find at any other pizza joint. Extra greasy, perhaps.
