Nintendo Penguin #1 Posted October 9, 2005 Anyone have any thoughts? I have been pretty excited about this title. Has anyone had a chance to play LA Rush?
Jess Ragan #2 Posted October 9, 2005 I've played the demo twice. I didn't care for it... it looks like Midway is trying to capitalize on the success of Need for Speed Underground rather than keeping the game in line with the others in the series. Car models are big and chunky, the gameplay is slow, and there's a nasty taste of poser which will likely only get worse in the official release. I'd say pass. ClassicBoy #3 Posted October 10, 2005 Yeah. This is one that I was really excited about. I've loved all the arcade Rushes up to this point. When I saw the trailer for LA Rush and realized how much of an urban street gang bent this game will have, I completely lost interest. No thanks. Why does everything have to have a story? I want to drive the cars... I don't want to pretend to be some mobster or other character driving the cars. I'm so sick of the "urban street vibe" that is so pervasive in so many games today. I wish it would just play itself out.

Jess Ragan #5 Posted October 10, 2005 Yes, although I doubt they'll market it that way. JR
Nintendo Penguin #6 Posted October 10, 2005 After reading what you guys had to say I took another look at Gamepot... you're right. there is a lot of street gang crap in that game! I dunno... maybe I was just interested because I used to live in So Cal... it would be cool to see all the landmarks and stuff in a driving game. At any rate, I am going to wait for the rpice to drop.
Ze_ro #7 Posted October 11, 2005 Yeah, this game looks like just another stupid street racing game. I never liked them myself. I loved SF Rush, but I don't want to sit there and rice up my car and deal with all that "illegal street race" nonsense that seems to be in every game now. --Zero
Jess Ragan #8 Posted October 13, 2005 Word on the street is that LA Rush is, indeed, a turkey. The reviewer on 1UP.com gave it a 6.0, claiming that the car seemed to float above the road rather than riding on top of it. In the end, he stated that LA Rush doesn't compare to the better racing games on home consoles. JR

I'm so sick of the rice out my car and the urban thug life shitholio nonsense that I can't get near most of the racing franchises now. Someone just give me an improved Test Drive II for god's sake. Obtuse #11 Posted October 18, 2005 LA Rush=Craptacular They've manage to remove almost every shred of what made the previous Rush games great. I wanted roof jumping, stunt flying, arcade madness. Instead I got a Need For Speed: Underground clone with an even worse soundtrack. They blew a great franchise on this one. Maybe they can get Bill Cosby to re-introduce "Rush Classic" (as he did with Coca- Cola Classic after the New Coke fiasco......) 'Til then guess I'll have to dig out the N64. Or perhaps you were thinking of PGR3... 947807[/snapback] PGR3 while looking shiny, is not a "Test Drive" type of game as far as I can see. As far as TDU, I've read some cool things about it, but if it's another f*ing online centric game they can stick that up their ass. What is wrong these days with wanting to play an excellent ONE PLAYER game. Most of the time I don't want to be involved with the masses of f*cktards online. Flojomojo #14 Posted October 18, 2005 It's not THAT bad a game. I admit that I only bought it to get a free copy of MAT3, but it's not as bad as everyone is saying. The physics are OK, the cinematics are almost amusing, and the music is passable. If you haven't played all the other free-driving games to death already, it's fairly decent in its own right. I sound like a Jaguar apologist, don't I?
