StanJr #1 Posted April 18, 2002 Let's be honest, the 2 golf games for the VCS are crap. So how hard would it be to build a better golf game for the atari. I'm not talking about picking from different clubs and irons and wedges and all that. I'm not talking about wind conditions, or fly-by camera views, just a better golf game than what is out there. Atari golf only has 9 course, and they did get the pars and such pretty solid. The traps are decent, but I'd like a better swing engine and maybe a front 9 and back 9 or something. Would it really be asking too much? (And by the way, I know Golf is a game for sissies and fat old men who can no longer play REAL sports, but think they look good in goofy slacks. You'll never catch me on a golf course unless it is naked lady day, but I do like to play golf video games for some reason so leave me alone) Stan in one
ATARIPITBULL #2 Posted April 18, 2002 WOW stan, I'm 6'3 at 240 pounds, I lift weights every day, I have been in boxing, Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for years but I never knew that I was a sissy, fat old man when I play golf in the summer time. I better stop playing golf and just do my other sports. Thanks buddy!!!!!
Markimus of K. #3 Posted April 18, 2002 Stan in one, Don't worry, I used to golf a bit when I was younger and gave it up as too damn frustrating. But golf games are a lot of fun. It's nice to just kick back and not worry about a timer or something. Get a bunch of people on the patio on a nice summer night and play golf on the mobile PSone or Nomad and a great time is had by all! As far as golf on the 2600, I've only got Golf by Atari, what is the other one available? And please tell me whatever it is, it's better. Please? as Always, Markimus of K. +legeek #4 Posted April 18, 2002 Isn't My Golf pretty good? Otherwise I guess it's time to fire up a Nintendo or Psx for Golf, NES Open, or Hot Shots 1 or 2... le geek
Lemmi #5 Posted April 18, 2002 I hate the Atari golf games to, i would rather play NES Golf/Lee Trevinos fighting golf or the PGA Tour Golf series on the Genesis
Snider-man #6 Posted April 18, 2002 Stan, I gotta agree, My Golf is the best 2600 golf game there is. I don't know how you'd improve on it.
moycon #7 Posted April 18, 2002 I've always been partial to Miniature Golf... I know its nothing like golf.... But I can remember playing the HELL out of that game back in the day. To each his own I guess. The screen-shots Ive seen of My Golf look pretty sweet altho Ive never played it on my own..... How hard would it be to hack My Golf...(Or Atari golf for that matter) and make more holes? Hmmmm Kinda bored at work lately.... Maybe I'll give it a whrill tomorrow night. If it can be done I'll call it.... Your Golf. Then maybe I'll get good at it and release another version... Our Golf!!! WOOHOO!!!!!
Joel D. Park #8 Posted April 18, 2002 Agreed, My Golf is awesome. I don't play real golf myself, but I do enjoy smacking golf balls. Those suckers fly if you hit them right.
Jobf #9 Posted April 18, 2002 quoteAgreed, My Golf is awesome. Definitely. My Golf is about as good as golf can get on the 2600. Steve Rich.
StanJr #10 Posted April 18, 2002 What the hell is My Golf? As for you, Pitbull, just listen to you, yer a big fella, and from the sound of it pretty tough. Why are you wasting yer time knocking a little white ball around with a bunch of old white men in goofy pants? You should be playing a real sport like football or basketball or something! You are not a sissy, but you've been duped into playing a sport designed for them! For the love of god man, go to the batting cages already! Its not too late! Lemmi #11 Posted April 18, 2002 Isnt My golf made by HES or Salu? and in pal format only? Found it, and there is a NTSC rom http://www.atariage.com/software_page.html...wareLabelID=878 [ 04-18-2002: Message edited by: Lemmi ]
StanJr #12 Posted April 18, 2002 If its PAL it does me no good.
Lemmi #13 Posted April 18, 2002 I edited my post to include the link and NTSC rom stanny
Snider-man #14 Posted April 18, 2002 Golf is a sissy game? Try my method. For every full beer you consume on-course, you get to take one stroke off your score at the end. A six-pack is a -6 at the end. On the 18th hole, everyone's pounding 'em down, trying to drink their way to victory. (Trouble is, the more you drink, the worse you golf, necessitating that much more beer.) And, if you still think video golf is wimpy, two words: Ninja Golf. iguana #15 Posted April 18, 2002 Stan,Stan,Stan, I am 6'3, 280 pounds, I played DT through college, was an all state football and track guy, Every sport I played i excelled in, until Golf. Let me tell you it is not a "sissy" game. You should try it. Go to a cource and you will see more 20 somthings than 40 somthings out there, plus it is a nice social game. a time to get out of the house for a few hours have a few beers and a cigar or 2! Skatepunk60 #17 Posted April 18, 2002 Im guessing here but he has a NTSC tv and system and probly cant play the game too good if its rolling like crazy
liveinabin #18 Posted April 18, 2002 i don't see why a good golf game should be impossible. That golf game on the original gameboy was pretty simple but quite good. A bit off topic, but I've been thinking, why don't we have proffessional PGA Crazy Golf, with like, a standard pro-spec. for windmill height etc. It'd be great! I'd watch THAT on TV! StanJr #19 Posted April 18, 2002 skatepunk is right. PAL games roll on my TV and therefore make me sad. Come on people, I cannot believe my ears. Big, strong, able-bodied men defending GOLF? What is up with this?
Scooterb23 #20 Posted April 19, 2002 In this case, you have to be Misguided Stan... Golf is a lot of fun!! Especially when fun beverages are involved, and as for my size...6'1" 350 pounds. Just a little bit of muscle, mostly fluff. OK, so there's My Golf (very good), Golf (I really like this too) and Miniature Golf (one of my 2600 favorites) are there any other ones? If not, people need to make more!!
Nukey Shay #21 Posted April 19, 2002 Snider-man-- Excellent idea! Though it would be hell for the putting green. And it would make televised golf worth watching. "And now, he needs to make this 9 ft. putt to tie..." "HEY! Who's that whispering over there? I'm trying to PUTZ here!" "Sir, it's just the commen..." "I don't care! I'm on the green and need SILLENCE! Gimme the driver, already!" "I'd recommend the putter." "Putter? I can barely SEE the hole from here! Keep it up and I'll have you put in the penalty box." "There's no pentally box in golf, dufus...let's see you tie me!" "No box? Then let's BUILD one then." "No...better idea...I declare my ex-wife to be the pentally box. If you miss this putt, you gotta sleep with HER!" "Whoa...gimme the sand wedge." People would skip church to watch that.
StanJr #22 Posted April 19, 2002 Yes, but listen to yourselves! You all agree that golf is only tolerable if you are drunk out of your minds. Anything is fun with enough beer! Even Trina Leatherman in the 11th grade was fun after a six pack! Sheesh!
Scooterb23 #23 Posted April 19, 2002 Actually when I said fun beverage I meant Mouintain Dew, I don't drink alcohol. So I enjoy playing golf completely sober!!! And you could get Trina on 3 cans of beer and a Seagram's Golden Wine Cooler

Nukey Shay #25 Posted April 19, 2002 Mt.Dew? Nah, too much caffeine can make you edgy. * putting... "...would you STOP that, please!" "Stop what?" "Jangling the coins in your pocket. All day it's been jangle-jangle-jangle. It's like I'm playing against a flea-infested dog!" "Well it's better than listening to you snort that same wad of mucus in your throat whenever you look at the ball. You must have some kind of emotional attachment to it or something, the way you keep snorking it back in." "Not at all, I'll get rid of it right now." * blows his nose on the scorecard (props to Dave Barry...though I changed it a bit)
