Boxed Polo Carts will be ready for PC3!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Somehow you are all witness to a miracle: I got my act together and will have boxed 2600 Polo carts for sale at the show. They have been quite possibly the biggest pain to get right (and expense) I have ever undertaken. I have a VERY limited number of them. They are hand numbered and have the Philly Classic dates on the box.

They are complete with full color labels, full color box, styrofoam inserts, manuals and display bags. They will be the regular boxed new release price of 40 each. I am also planning on entering one in the auction, in case you miss me when I sell them. I want to again compliment Osmeroid for all of his hard work on the box and manual art. Great stuff to work with, and a great guy. Wish he could join us for the fun

I will be the guy with the Computer Space Machine (hey, all great things are green, right?). Easy to find. Thanks for reading my post. See you soon,

Cassidy

BTW, same post came to those of you on the PC3 listserv. Sorry for the double.

Is it just a show release? I would love to buy the box/manual for my Polo prototype - any chance of giving that puppy a nice new home

Cheers,

Marco

Ahem. Hey Cass? Don't forget our "arrangement." Wink - wink- nudge - nudge. Yours will be ready by month's end.

"Snider-man"

P.S. Say no more, say no more, know what I mean? Wink wink?

Osmeroid was kind enough to show me the box art for this title and it looks great - real authentic Atari style.

Dammit, I wish I could get a copy of that

I have had such an interest in this, I may end up doing a batch after the show. At this point, I have to sell some to get back the money I spent making these. You guys may know a better way to get printing done, but when you start using heavy cardstock and color printing, the prices for a few pieces go through the roof. It takes about 40 minutes to get one boxed up and ready to go. I have not seen my fiancee in the last two weeks. Wake up, work, home to the office to make Polo, bed, repeat.

Lets see what happens at PC3. For all I know, there are only 10 people who want this thing.

BTW, emailed Carol Shaw today to get her blessings. I had been trying to get a way to contact her for months, and one showed up today. We shall see.

Dan Skelton made artwork for Polo on the first Stella CD (a release sanctioned by Atari Corp, BTW, and ultimately the initial source of the BIN on the net).

I was hoping that if a cart were ever made this way, that it would have used Dan's excellent artwork which reproduced the style of that era of Atari.

I would hope that some recognition be given to Dan and to the CD in the new cart.

Dan has given permission to distribute his artwork freely. Maybe Alex will put it online?

Hey cassidy on which day will you be selling your game and about what time too? I read that the Bugs Bunny game won't go on sale till 12:30 am on saturday, thats why I am asking about which day and what time you will begin.

Just emailed David to see what time is good. I was thinking earlier, because I do not want anyone to miss the BB release and signing. I would not mind Friday night, but I know that might hinder some people from getting there.

I have so few copies, how do you all think I should do this fairly?

I can't say for sure but like you said you should wait till saturday to sell your game because you will have a bigger crowd to sell to than late in the afternoon on friday, plus you don't want to sell to late in the afternoon because most people will spend all their money too early. A good time to start selling would be between 1:00 - 2:00 in the afternoon I think.

I wish I had known that before we started. What we have done is create "theme" production: Labels and designs are period correct.

Here are some shots of things. I do not think anyone would disapprove of the design, or the intention (I hope?).

Let me know what you guys think of Osmeroids and my handiwork..
