FA - 21 Systems - 700+ games

Recommended Posts

Well, it's officially on Ebay.

My whole collection (minus all my Atari stuff) is now being auctioned off.

You can see it here...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

The reserve is $2850, and if someone in good standing here at AtariAge wins the auction, I would consider free local pickup. Let me know through PM who you are. I just didn't want to do it for millions of unknown people. There are lots of goodies that aren't even mentioned in the auction that I will throw in too. Handhelds, game guides, videos, various storage, nintendo cameras, and lots of other stuff.

Thanks.

If it doesn't all go together, I am going to be pretty busy breaking this all up to sell over the next few months.

Your shipping's a little bit screwy:

SHIPPING:

Media Mail will be cheapest and what I would suggest, if you are patient.  It can take a week or even two for items to be delivered via media mail, but it is a much cheaper option than First Class or Priority.

Winner to pay $50 Handling and $250 for shipping UP FRONT ($300 total).

I WILL REFUND ANY SHIPPING CHARGES UNDER THE $250 SO YOU ARE ONLY PAYING $50 HANDLING AND ACTUAL SHIPPING CHARGES.

IF THE AMOUNT GOES OVER THE INITIAL $250, YOU WILL HAVE TO DEPOSIT MORE MONEY FOR ME TO CONTINUE SHIPPING.

If you want to leave more money down for shipping that is fine.  I WILL reimburse any overpayment after everything is shipped.

I will ship Priority or First Class, or even UPS but expect to leave a larger shipping deposit.

The first time I read it, It sounded to me as if you are stating the total shipping at $300. As in the total. Then you go on to say you would require additional money if the actual cost is any higher. Kind of a contradiction of terms. I realize you say $300 up front, but typically all auctions state shipping will be paid up front, so it reads like you give an exact total only to change up in the next couple lines.

I'm curious though, have you shipped many large boxes, systems & such via USPS Media Mail? Most post offices will not allow videogame stuff to go MM. It's definitely cheapest, but it's not for videogames. First class is also mentioned in the ad, and that has a cut off weight of 13oz so unless you are mailing out 700+ games in individual packages, I don't think you need to consider that one. Parcel Post & Priority are really the only two you can use on videogame lots & large boxes like what you are gonna need.

I would not rule out UPS or any of the other shipping companies like Fedex or DHL, these usually will have better rates than the post office for large packages. Also better insurance & tracking, should any issues pop up.

Thanks for the info. I think I will have to go back and reword it a bit.

I am 100% sure about Media Mail and cleared it with the post office here.

They definitely allow it.

I did not know about the cut off for First Class, so I will change it to Parcel.

Last bump.

Reserve lowered to $2700.

If it doesn't sell, I will be selling everything (and more) that is in that auction so feel free to start making some offers on Sunday... if it doesn't sell... which I hope it does.

Disc-based media (CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs) can be shipped by media mail. So, game discs are allowed. Game cartridges and game hardware, however, are not; the cheapest option for those is parcel post.

See this USPS link for more info.

Some post office employees aren't clear on the matter either, which is why there's still an ongoing debate. A few years back I was shipping some 2600 cartridges, and when I told the lady behind the counter what was in the box, she stamped it "media mail" and charged accordingly. Sadly, that wasn't the right thing to do (or at least it wouldn't be now).

I just talked to two more postal employees today to verify.

They know me very well from my job and from my Ebay sales.

I told them I will be bringing in boxes and boxes of video games.

Cartridges, CD's, systems, etc.

They said that it can all DEFINITELY go out media mail.

Since they are going to be the people shipping it out and charging me, I am very confident that this will not be an issue.

Also, according to http://www.usps.com/businessmail101/classe...ageServices.htm

media mail can consist of "computer-readable media".

Sounds like a cartridge to me.
