Red 5 #1 Posted October 13, 2005 So funny ! http://cgi.ebay.com/Atari-5200-w-13-Games-...1QQcmdZViewItem But don't worry, a "completely different seller" has a pair of handles for your 5200 going nice and cheap... http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Atari-5200-Handles_W...1QQcmdZViewItem

itsralph #3 Posted October 14, 2005 I scored a nice set of 5200 Competition Pro sticks dirt cheap a few years ago. They were described as "handles" also and you could just make out the knobs sticking out from under the pile of "untested" stuff in the pic. Gotta love the uninformed occasionally. J.Max #4 Posted October 14, 2005 I don't know if I'd laugh too hard at that first auction...he's got a few good games in that pile...
RickHarrisMaine #5 Posted October 14, 2005 I was thinking the same thing. Maybe I'll put in a bid on it and see if I can "handle" that Mr. Do's Castle
maibock #6 Posted October 14, 2005 "Both" sellers are from NY Well, then again, maybe it's the NY lingo

Red 5 #8 Posted October 14, 2005 And no feedback... or maybe only 6 feedback... Either way, seems a little shady. Will probably go for pretty cheap if you want to take a shot. If you win, get cocky and ask if you can have the 'handles' they're selling in the other auction.
RickHarrisMaine #9 Posted October 14, 2005 Hey there Realred, sweet G-Force avatar. I used to love that show when I was a kid! They had it on Channel 56 out of Boston on cable, but it was called Battle of the Planets! I thought it was the coolest thing I ever saw!
Red 5 #10 Posted October 14, 2005 I watched it when it was called BOTP too. Mark, Jason, Tiny, Princess, Keop, 7Zark7 and the dog... what the hell was the dog's name? I used to run around my backyard screaming 'TRANSMUTE !' Channell 11 WPIX out of New York. Aah the good old days of having 13 channels. Completely off topic, but any other NY locals who used to try to call in to WPIX after school and try to play the video game where you scream PIX ! PIX ! PIX ! into the phone to try to blow up space ships and win a prize? C'mon Joeybastard, back me up on this one... I may post this in general chat too... someone must remember this... Ummm.. handles on a 5200 ! That's funny ! (is it bad to derail your own tread... sorry.)
joeybastard #11 Posted October 14, 2005 Huh? Did I just see the Bastard Symbol flash across the sky? Already answered in general about 'PIX ! PIX! PIX!" Oh and I watched BOTP as a kid too but haven't seen it in 20 years at least. Was that the one with the big aircraft carrier type of ship in space with the big ass gun in the front? It was named something like The Yamato or something similar. I remember the separate team members part of it but I can't remember if that ship I thinking of was from that show or not. Red 5 #12 Posted October 14, 2005 The ship was called the Phoenix. The best 'trick' that the ship did (other that the fact that it could be used as a submarine as well as fly in space or the sky) was turn into a giant flaming bird called the 'Fiery Phoenix'. Unfortunately this seemed to cause the occupants incredible pain whenever they did this, and I was never really sure exactly what it accomplished, but damn was it cool to look at ! joeybastard #13 Posted October 14, 2005 (edited) Hmmm. Then I wonder what the hell is the Japenses cartoon that had this aircraft carrier type of thing that I'm thinking of? I think it was on WNEW(channel 5 before Fox) in the mornings. EDIT: FOUND IT! It was Star Blazers! http://www.kgwings.com/yamato/yamato.html Edited October 14, 2005 by joeybastard

Lots of kids didn't comprehend the timing issue and just repeated as fast as they could, which didn't work well at all since the game was one-shot-onscreen. I wonder how much delay there was in the TV and phone signals, if it was even really "playable" by a good video gamer.
