Goochman #1 Posted October 14, 2005 I finally broke out one of the highest rated Jag games around and have some questions. First - the manual sucks - Someone spent about 15 mins in Word typing the text. With that out of the way here are my questions: 1. Every lap you see a 'time' posted - Is this the 'Average' time each lap? So by the 3rd lap it is all your times divded by 3? Id like to know how this is calculated. 2. Pulling back in the air gives a bigger jump it appears - anything other tricks to go faster over the small bumps? 3. Doing 'tricks' - WTF does this buy you except a crash? 4. Suggestions on 'adjusting' the bike?
+Cobra Kai #2 Posted October 14, 2005 (edited) Are you sure you're talking about the right game when you say SC-3D is one of the 'highest rated' Jag games? I know alot of people appreciate and enjoy Super Burnout...but Supercross is a pile of chits in my book. 3. Doing tricks is just for show and doesn't award any bonuses AFAIK, similar to Val 'd Esierre. 4. Soft Shocks. Good background, kinda fun, crashed a lot, added it to my other Jag carts. Makes my collection look that much larger, and fills another slot. LOL Getting the idea of my thoughts on the game itself? goatdan #5 Posted October 14, 2005 Personally, I don't understand why Supercross 3D has such a horrid reputation. I understand the frame rate problems, but compared to other Supercross games that I've played like Jeremy McGrath's Supercross 2000 (DC), SX Superstar (Cube), Freestyle Metal X (Cube) and so on, it is about as good as any of them. I don't get it really... there's about a million of those games, and they all have glaring issues. But yeah, after I got SC3D originally, I spent far too much time playing it. I still don't think it was a horrible game, although I don't think I would pull it out to play it again too often. The music for it though was horrid. I remember turning that off immediately. Paolo #6 Posted October 14, 2005 You know, Dan. I started 'rating' my Jag games according to my sons behaviour. If he just can't play it, then I start worrying. I was just trying my brand new FlipOut, and my son got to level 6 (at stage 1) in a few minutes, and he had to figure out the aim of the game in the meanwhile. He can't get past the first turn in SC3D
Goochman #7 Posted October 14, 2005 One other thing I noticed not in the manual is you have to push 'down' to release the starting gate............
goatdan #8 Posted October 14, 2005 He can't get past the first turn in SC3D 948464 That is both really funny and really sad at the same time. I completely understand how it could happen though. SC3D wasn't exactly the best (or for that matter, ANY good) at helping you figure out what you were doing if you get lost. A lot of Supercross games are like that though. SX Superstar was really fun in the smaller races (at least to me) but when they had the big ones... if you're following the pack, you know where to go. Otherwise, you'll get completely lost VERY easily. Gave that game up
Isgoed #9 Posted October 14, 2005 (edited) A friend of mine has SC3D for the Jaguar, and a Sega 32X with Motocross Championship He said that the 32x game was of a lower quality compared to SC3D Edited October 14, 2005 by Isgoed
The_Laird #10 Posted October 14, 2005 Supercross 3d: looks superb in screenshots, when I first saw this in magazines I couldn't understand why it was getting slated so much because it looked so awesome. Then I got the game and played it. I've seen ZX81 games with a better framerate, condom machines with better controls and have had had more fun watching the shopping channel. So horrible it hurts me! goatdan #11 Posted October 14, 2005 ...condom machines with better controls... 948572 I'm trying to envision a way any condom machine could have bad controls... But that's just awesome Made my day
Lastblade #12 Posted October 15, 2005 I know the frame rate is horrible and the music/sound are less than stellar, but for some reason, I really liked SC3D when it came out. I played the heck out of it even though I am struggling with it most of the time, I don't know why but this game somehow gave me enjoyment. Still, it is not a good game, especially looking back now with super smooth 60fps racers. But I can't help but remember this game fondly.
Gunstar #13 Posted October 15, 2005 The frame rate isn't too bad if you paly in "practice" mode without any other racers or if you get way ahead of the "pack", if that fram-rate could have been held with all the racers on-screen it would have been a better rated game, the controls are only bad due to the bad frame-rate, if you try it in practice mode, the controls respond much better with the better frame-rate. The_Laird #14 Posted October 15, 2005 and the music/sound are less than stellar Your right the 2600 could have done better sound!
