Who has the greatest Atari 2600 collection?

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry, but I couldn't resist seeing if this gets responses...

I read on here that someone was complaining about people taking Atari collecting to the extreme, and developing some sort of "cult status." He said that people should just enjoy the games, and not have to try to outdo the next.

I think that it might be harmless fun to try to outdo everyone else in the collecting department (not for me tho). What if it gives the participants alot of satisfaction?

What if you could somehow set up a ranking system, with people submitting actual pictures of all the stuff they have for the Atari 2600, and then setting up a fun kind of ranking system....it would be on the honor system sortof, since people I suppose could submit bogus photos of their "collections".

Or have some sort of program where you could stick your present collection into, and it would spit out a "ranking" of how well your game collection is based on rarity or other interesting factors like popularity.

Like the first couple ranks could be like

"Admiral" "Captain" "First Officer" (taken sorta from star trek).

This may be a worthless venture since any Atari collection is only based on how much money a person has. So the higher end collectors merely indicate how well-off they are. For example, if I had a million dollars, and one month, I probably could collect every Atari 2600 game there was on Ebay.

So maybe the pictures themselves could be rated for "beauty" or something. Like the way they display all their games.

Anyhow, just my fun thoughts.
