+RangerG #1 Posted October 18, 2005 I searched around and found what seems like varying answers, so I ask: Will the PSONE screen work with a classic console if the console is A/V modded? I know it is made to only work with the PSone, but I found a recommendation to use a stereo male to dual RCA female. I ordered one off Ebay, so hopefully this will work. Anyone do this? I think a Flashback 2 would be great with this screen and Kmart is selling them for $13 (I saw this on DP and picked up 2 today). Thanks for the replies- RG

None other than the great Ben Heckendorn has done it. http://www.benheck.com/book/support/Atari2600VidMod.htm Edited October 18, 2005 by keilbaca
+RangerG #3 Posted October 18, 2005 I figured Ben had done it - nice work. What about these instructions (i.e would they work for a classic console with a/v mod? or the FB2)? Anyways here goes... I was just wondering if anybody knows or has heard of a way to get the PS1 screen working for the PS2? PS1 screen uses an AC Adapter (I think). PS2 screen uses a RCA output I was just wondering if there was such a RCA input plug that can be connected to an AC adapter and that could be connected to the PS1 screen. So it's like saying RCA input + AC adapter + PS1 screen = PS2 capabilities (or able to play PS2 games with the PS1 screen). Is this possible? I heard it was so I'll look up stuff in google and see what I can find, thanks. efulitz Posts: 21 Posted: Thu Jul 28, 2005 6:40 am Post: 1482274 - 1/8th" stereo male to dual RCA female adapter for mini- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The PSone screen standardly uses an AV connection cable to connect to the PSone console. Rather than trying to convert this AV connection with an adapter for RCA, you could buy a converter for the mini-jack input. See "Back of the PS One Screen:" pictures at http://www.vidgame.net/SONY/PSONE.htm to see where the mini-jack input is. Quote from Amazon.com reviewer "www.marktaw.com" : You can plug in an external input for any kind of video - TV, VCR, DVD, PS2. Here's how. Buy a 1/8" stereo male to dual RCA female adapter. (my comment ->) You could try http://search.ebay.com/rca-to-3-5mm-mini Plug the yellow video out from the PS2 into the white plug of the adapter. Plug the white left audio out from the PS2 into the red plug of the adapter. And you're good to go. The screen should turn itself on whenever the 1/8" plug is in. Sure you only get a mono/left signal, but if you can switch your material to mono it works. 95% of the time this should be fine. Or you can buy further adapters & combine the left & right signals. keilbaca #4 Posted October 18, 2005 (edited) Easily. In fact, I used to run a dual screen setup in my room in Japan. TV to play on, and the psone mini screen above my TV. I got a audio/video splitter, so it displays on both at the same time. The point? Its so I can play games when I die on cs, so I just look up and play on my LCD. Also, when I used to have a few small tourneys with some friends, you can also watch the action on the LCD so no one is crowding the two people playing on the TV. I also was able to run my computer off of the LCD. It worked with everything but the Atari 2600 composite mod. +RangerG #5 Posted October 18, 2005 That sounds great Keilbaca! Does the LCD screen power itself through the console (the a/v cord/adaptor). I know it won't work with an Atari 2600 composite mod (unless I get the Ben H. one), but do you think the Flashback2 should work with the screen. That to me seems like a great set-up for the living room (almost portable). Also, Doubledown a/v modded my Colecovision - I wonder if it will work with this? Take care, RG
+RangerG #6 Posted October 18, 2005 I hadn't even fully checked out the screen. They have ac adaptors with them. These were a great deal for $13. I hope they will work with the consoles.

Take care, RG I have no idea, and Mind Game has the screen or else I would have tested it tonight. Anyone else want to test it? And yes, you need the psone adapter plugged into the screen to play it, and no it does not have to be in the psone to play.
krupkaj #8 Posted October 21, 2005 (edited) LCD powers on itself when composite signal appears on input. I am running it with Atari 8 and with Jaguar. It is possible to connect RGB devices to flat connector but I have not tried it yet. You can see it on my website at http://krupkaj.wz.cz Go to Unconventional 2005 photos and to 2nd page. But there are photos of it also in other parties folders. Edited October 21, 2005 by krupkaj
+RangerG #9 Posted October 21, 2005 Thanks for the pics - looks good in action. Have you thought of any better way to stabilize the screen when standing alone?
krupkaj #10 Posted October 21, 2005 (edited) I was thinking about it a lot, but this solutions works and at this moment I have not enough free time to make it better. As you can see in this pictuere http://krupkaj.wz.cz/ByteFest/original/DSC01996.jpg there are screwed 2 plastic strips to the bottom part of display which work as stand. You can watch it at Raster page. There are better photos: http://raster.infos.cz/atari/forpc/creaxin1en.htm This LCD is very widespread here in Czech. There is nice web from ZX guys. It is in Czech language, but there are nice pictures how to make it better. So watch it here: http://cygnus.speccy.cz/popis_psone.php Edited October 21, 2005 by krupkaj
+RangerG #11 Posted October 21, 2005 (edited) I like the stand idea, thanks for posting it! I just got the $2 cord in the email from Ebay to connect A/V - wow what a great deal for these little LCDs. P.S. Any idea about where the plastics strips are from? Edited October 21, 2005 by RangerG
krupkaj #12 Posted October 23, 2005 (edited) P.S. Any idea about where the plastics strips are from? The strips were cutted from big plastic plate 2mm thick. Then were bend in hot air. BTW it is a pity that these LCDs are not manufactured anymore. It is great display for good price. Its not big but the picture is very sharp and readable. I was very surprised of quality when I saw it running for first time. Edited October 23, 2005 by krupkaj
oceanfr #13 Posted November 5, 2005 where can I get this AC Adapter for the screen? Thanks
krupkaj #14 Posted November 10, 2005 The AC adapter is included. At least It was in the package which I have. BTW I modiffied my PAL Jr. similar way like Ben Heckendorn did. And it works nice!
