Wanted: c64 programming books,XE1541 cable, games

Recommended Posts

I would like to get some c64 basic programming books. I know the information is availbel online but I would prefer it in a book format.

I'm also looking for one of those cables that let you hook write to a 1541 drive from a PC. XE1541?

And games are always wanted.

Well there's a bunch of different types of those cables. And most of them are real picky about your LPT hardware. Though the Star Commander software can use the most basic of the cables to write to a 1541.

Now using a PC as a C64 "disk" server is where it's at ;)

I just keep praying that someone will write an APE for the C64s. APE is a godsend for the A8 series.

1541emu is very cool, but really picky about hardware, timing, etc. And 64HDD doesn't handle any type of funny disks or protection. Boo Hiss!

I have a pile of C64 programming books (or, I should) ... any particular titles, or just anything?

Some of those with type in programs would be cool but I would like more of a BASIC tutorial type of thing. If you could list titles I could probably find stuff that I wanted. :)

Let me try to dig them out tomorrow. If you don't hear back in-thread, PM me ... I tend to get distracted by other tasks.

I have quite a bit too, so if other searches don't quench your thirst, just drop me a message. I probably have 40 or so books.

Also, if you visit http://sta.c64.org, you will find information on obtaining one of the X?1541 series cables/adapters that you're looking for.

Also, there's a program called CBM4WIN that lets you do some stuff under Windows, but not as much as the APE software does. A quick search in the comp.sys.cbm newsgroup will turn up quite a lot on the cables, software, and setup.

And, if you're not aware, http://www.lemon64.com is an excellent Commodore related site (although not responding right at this very moment for some reason?)

Jerry
