Pac Man Fever

Hey guys.. well I took a look and the basic problem is, I no longer have it on any of my computers.

Now I still have it archived on a DVD somewhere, however the other problem is that "somewhere" is within a box within a storage facility (I recently moved from Seattle to Charlotte, NC and have yet to fully settle.

So yeah, it looks like at this point I simply don't have the full album easily accessible :( But maybe someone else here does! Share it out! :P rapidshare.de is a good easy way to share it out or I also like http://www.4shared.com

Ok...got it uploaded.

Here is the link:

Enjoy

Thanks LH :) However I'm pretty sure those sound pretty different (a lot nicer and clearer) from the vinyl rip originals I had posted above.

Do you know if this is the original recordings or is it from the re-recorded later release?

That's interesting, from wikipeia.

* When the Pac-Man Fever album was re-released on CD in 2001, Buckner and Garcia were not allowed access to their original recordings from 1982. The CD re-release instead contains modern sound-alike re-recordings of all their songs.

* Furthermore, since they were unable to find a Mousetrap machine (or any of the home versions) to record game sounds from, the re-recording of the relevant track instead features sounds from real dogs, cats, and pigeons instead of game sounds.

You know, I actually think I got these from you a while back, but I don't remember for sure :)

I know I did not rip them from the LP that I own.

Hmm, it may be the original. according to this website it is:

http://home.hiwaay.net/~lkseitz/cvg/Pacman...r/records.shtml

Also, now that I've popped open Omigod's massive 90 page booklet it says that all songs are the original hits as released back in the day. I recommend this "Pop Culture Box" to all 80's fans. You can do better on the price by searching around. I got mine on upay (eBay) a few months ago for $55 + 5 shipping, it was brand new and sealed

GREAT thread !!

I LOVE this album, and i am NOT afraid to admit that YES, i do still play this to date...on vinyl on a record player mind you! Seriously people, it's THE ONLY WAY to really enjoy this album! :)

"Hyperspace" is my theme song. Love it love it love it!

"Mousetrap" gets another vote from me as a winner that is often overlooked

"Do the Donkey Kong" rocks, but i find it far too repeptitive as it nears the end.

"Pac Man Fever" of course is a utter classic......it simply rules. The 12 inch version is awesome, as well as the intrumental.

I play this a lot from time to time, and back in the 90's i used to play it for kids and they loved it too. The music sounds upbeat and "happy" so i think this is why it is somewhat "timeless" for some of us.

You're not the only one, no.

You know, most of the games on the Pac-Man Fever album had sequels (with the exception of Mousetrap)...

Still, while they did release more songs (an entire album, in fact, though it was only released on the pre-CNet MP3.com), they never made any new video game songs, just reworkings of Pac-Man Fever with different arrangements (instrumental, unplugged) and lyrics ("Pokemon Fever"?). Their second album, Now & Then, had songs about Pogs and other fads instead.

I e-mailed Buckner some months back, and he did say that they were trying to get Now & Then into the iTunes store, but I haven't seen it there yet.

Also, if you can find their Mr. T song, snap it up. (It was on their website for a brief time, but it's long gone now). It's definitely in the vein of the Pac-Man Fever songs, even if it isn't about video games. It even has gunfire sound effects and Jerry Buckner pretending to be Mr. T between verses, like Pac-Man Fever's sound effects.

Were there any song length differences between the original and re-release copies?

I came across two sets of this in mp3 format. Each sounds different, so I suspect one is original and one is re-release, but they are also different in length for two of the songs.

The Defender, one is 3:32 and the other is 4:02.

Do the Donkey Kong, one is 3:16 and the other is 4:24.

With the longer ones being from the re-release.

Is this right?

Crazy for it then and crazy for it now. :)

I had a buddy find me the song off the internet and burn it to a CD for me and when he asked what other songs i wanted on the CD i said "none, just Pac-Man Fever".

He looked at me very strangely and i just smiled and went on about my business, the CD is in my car right now and i listen to it almost everyday.
