Lacan #1 Posted October 29, 2005 Its either between a real NES and games for it, or Castlevania Curse of Darkness and the Guide for it and a new memory card for PS2. I really want them all but its either the NES with and games for it or Castlevania Curse of Darkness. I realize that after the shipping and handling of these things I won't have enough money for the other.
Jess Ragan #2 Posted October 29, 2005 Get the NES. Castlevania just doesn't translate well to 3D... if this was Dawn of Sorrow, I'd have to think about it for a while, but in this case, definitely buy the NES. JR

They never made a good 3d castlevania, if it was dawn of sorrows, I'd say get that, but in that case, get the NES.
Lacan #4 Posted October 29, 2005 (edited) Edit: but then again Castlevania Curse of Darkness may rule. I'm giving Iga one more chance on a 3D Castlevania game. I'm gonna need to have some time to think this over. Edited October 29, 2005 by Lacan
sega saturn x #5 Posted October 29, 2005 I have high hopes for curse of darkness but after played the horrible n64 and other ps2 game i have a strong feeling it will suck. Go with the nes, and then you can enjoy the greatness of castlevania 3.
JB #6 Posted October 29, 2005 I have one thing to say: Nintendo! It's for breakfast now! ... Actually, 2 things. Even if you ignore our advice and get the PS2 ame, don't buy a cheatbook. They're a ripoff(and half the ones I've seen aren't even right).
BydoEmpire #7 Posted October 29, 2005 I'd go with the NES, too, but I actually just played the OXM demo of the new 3d castlevania, and it's pretty cool. Definitely more varied and fun than the previous CV for the ps2. The camera is a little irksome, but not too bad. In certain rooms of hte castle, you find "Innocent Devils" that are basically little sidekick monster allies. They each have different powers which you can have them perform w/ the d-pad (or have them in auto, attack, or defend mode). It seemed to work pretty well in the ten minutes I spent with the demo. Graphics were solid, and the controls were tight. The game is a little too dark for my taste, but perhaps they'll adjust this (it was just a demo). I always love the variety of monsters in CV games, and this appears to be no different.
Lacan #8 Posted October 29, 2005 I can live with my Famiclone for a little while longer, and I can play Castlevania 3 with Konami Classics Collection: Castlevania and Contra disk for the PC. *Yes Konami offically actually made a semi Castlevania/Contra Collection for the PC* I'll get Curse of Darkness and the stuff for it. AMG #9 Posted October 29, 2005 I'm looking forward to the new CastleVania. But the NES would win out.

Then why buy the NES, unless you bought a crap Famiclone, they are much better. I love my NeoFC Ultra!

Just play the game. If you NEED help, go to www.GameFAQs.com (should be renamed GameWalktrhoguhsAndCodes, but whatever). Not only is it free, but you generally wind up with more competent support. Lacan #12 Posted October 31, 2005 You know I got an idea, I'll order Castlevania Curse of Darkness from Estarland, and buy a NES from Trade and Games.
J.Max #13 Posted October 31, 2005 Why are you asking this on a classic gaming forum? You should know what our answer is going to be: GET THE NES!!!
n8littlefield #14 Posted October 31, 2005 Simple, get the NES, then in the Spring or Summer pick up the PS2 game for $20.
Lacan #15 Posted November 1, 2005 I went with Castlevania Curse of Darkness and stuff for it. Sorry.
JB #16 Posted November 1, 2005 I went with Castlevania Curse of Darkness and stuff for it. Sorry. 957971 Why ask if you're not gonna take anyone's advice?
Lacan #17 Posted November 1, 2005 Because I was stuck in the middle and I made my final choice. I realize that my Famiclone can play all of my NES games except for Castlevania 3, and that I can play Castlevania 3 on the Castlevania and Contra Collection disk on my PC. BTW I was playing Kid Icarus last night...That game needs a sequel badly.
sigma #18 Posted November 1, 2005 and the Guide for it 956163 *slaps* You do know what THE INTERNET is for, right?
Lacan #19 Posted November 4, 2005 But the guide is very good in helping me to get 100 percent out of the game. Plus I think of it as a collectable.
JB #20 Posted November 4, 2005 But the guide is very good in helping me to get 100 percent out of the game. Plus I think of it as a collectable. 959782 The guide is, like all guides, shoddy with a smattering of inaccuracies thrown in. GameFAQs has WAY better walkthroughs for people that are too weak to play a game without handholding.
KaineMaxwell #21 Posted November 4, 2005 Get a NES, more enjoyment with it then with one game.
