What was the first third party game for the Atari 2600? Was it Activision's Dragster?

It would have to be one of Activision's initial titles, since they were the first third party to support the 2600. If I remember correctly, there were four of them: Boxing, Checkers, Dragster, and Fishing Derby. They were probably all announced at the same time, although I'm not sure which one was finished first.
