Drewman21 #1 Posted November 8, 2005 (edited) Just wondering if anybody has heard anything on the status of Paul's Homestarrunner RPG game. The demo was cool and I would like to play it with some college buddies that are moving away this coming May. Any word would be welcomed. Thanks for any word. SteveW #3 Posted November 8, 2005 I wouldn't hold my breath. I talked to Paul at the Dallas VGXpo, and he doesn't have any immediate plans to finish it. He ended up getting derailed from the project, and he's touring all over the place with his band Tree Wave, so he doesn't have that much time to do it. And he's been fooling around with programming on the Sega Genesis and working on 3D game engines, so he's kind of got other things to work on. I honestly don't think it'll ever be done. Kind of a shame. A co-worker bought an old Atari 2600 off of me, for the sole reason of playing the Homestar Runner RPG when it comes out. Guess he'll be waiting forever. bowser724 #4 Posted November 8, 2005 It's not really a follow-up to Peasant's Quest. For example, Peasant's Quest was supposed to look like it was for 286 computers, and it didn't have any homestarrunner characters except trogdor, teh villain. The Homestar Runner RPG will (if it's ever finished) have Strong Bad as the villain, you will play as Homestar, Homsar, or Strong Sad, and it will really be for Atari 2600 and not just a flash thing. I mean i know that there is less push for the Homestarrunner stuff now but it would make a cool game in my mind. And for the fact that unless I'm way off, the owners of HSR are cool with the game being made. If anything else it would be cool for people who were looking to help with and/or take over the work done on the game and Paul letting them. Not to steal his work but to colaborate to get a cool game done and out there for us folks to enjoy. Any thoughts? Drewman21
inextremis staple #6 Posted November 9, 2005 If I remember correctly... The Brothers Chap (HSR guys) actually wrote the story for the game and are totally in cahoots with the project. The problem lies with, what else, atari. A lot of the monsters/bad guys you fight in the game were going to be Atari characters. I don't think Atari much cared for that and got in a huffy about it. Thus, work was halted until either permission could be obtained or some reworking of the story could be made. is
